That's very sad if that's the case he is being pushed out against his will. Do you mean his parents said he was surplus to requirements or do you just mean that must be the case if the transfer goes through?
I still can't understand why you would start a player in a match and risk injury if...
Seems to have always been the case in terms or his attitude and personality, as this documentary shows.

I genuinely do think it's partly because he is Scottish and not subject to the same media hype English payers are. And also just an assumption he can't be that good because he is Scottish. Similarly if he was from a bigger European nation I'm sure he would be worth more...
My understanding from what's been said, but who knows:
New manager, new system, doesn't think he can fit new system due to physicality etc
Billy wants game time (understandably given his contribution last season)
Gets offer from Napoli and wants to go
Club respect him as a person given the way...
Obviously entitled to your own opinions but he was excellent in last season's 3-0 victory over Newcastle and this doesn't look like backwards passing to me.
And, if you watched the friendly between Scotland and the Netherlands in March, you would see this. He was the best player on the pitch (not just Scotland’s best player and was described as 'outstanding' by Steve Clarke) and Scotland completely fell apart as soon as he went off.
Most Scotland fans do appreciate him and players talk about how having him in the team makes them play better and makes their lives easier. His input is more than just individual performance/stats, takes on a lot of the hard work that allows others to shine in their roles.
