    [Politics] Donald Trump, US President

I think the house would need to approve it, then trump would veto it, and then it goes back to the house and would need 2/3rds to vote against trump the second time around for it to happen. So it's not going to happen.

Not sure, but if the US keeps up the trade war with Canada then Canada may use one of its nuclear options and stop exporting potash. The US imports most of its potash from Canada, US farming needs potash. So if the yanks want to eat they may try to get potash from Russia.

We (Ontario) just cancelled a $100 million contract with Starlink in retaliation for trump's tariffs and with the intention of punishing the people who made trump possible. Maybe Elon is realizing he is putting more than his Tesla business at risk?

1995 separation referendum Quebec voted to stay in Canada with 50.58% voting to stay. They said they would leave if 50% +1 vote said leave. Anyway, don’t want to derail the thread

It almost happened years ago when Quebec tried to leave. Oddly enough Quebec is one of our fiercest defenders against trump

Not impossible but unlikely, Manitoba and Alberta would be the likeliest to give it a go, but if they are unhappy with their representation in Canada wait until they see how much power they will have in America.

There’s no appetite for it in the US, a takeover that is. They could certainly have access to our resources through negotiations but that is a rocky road as the majority of Canadians can’t stand trump and our politicians know this.

    [Politics] Russia invades Ukraine (24/02/2022)

They don't plan on invading us, they plan on crushing us financially so we have no choice but to hand over our natural resources. This won't happen in the less than 2 years trump has to operate as Nov 3, 2026 all of the House seats and 1/3 of the Senate seats are to be contested. The people...

[Finance] How best to boycott USA goods.

As a Canadian boycotting American goods I can tell you that the work is front loaded and only needs to be done once. It's a bit daunting at first but very easy a few weeks on. As for people saying it won't make a difference, it already is. Just a few weeks in and our grocery stores are...

    [Politics] Donald Trump, US President

Across the board, federal and provincial levels hitting back at the same time. Plus going beyond tarrifs, US liquor being pulled from the shelves, that's a billion dollar hit right away.
