No. He’s devoid of tactical nouse and invention. When we played Croatia at the World Cup Modric stood in the middle of the park and ran the show, waistcoat did absolutely nothing to combat it.

Not what I wanted to hear but this aligns with my thoughts

You come on to an English board, in a thread about our young English player, playing for England at a major international tournament, to tell us if Ben isn't playing you want England to lose. I mistakenly gave you the attention that you wanted, so for that I apologise. I should have ignored such a pathetic post, especially as it was expressing the opinion of an irrelevant Potter-stalking Swedish pizza-chugging tramp.

You did it again.

I genuinely can’t fathom it. Both Shaw and Chilwell have been excellent this season. The latter just won the champions league in that position

It would appear the reasoning is because Trippier is our best player for set pieces. Lol. Play a player out of position for 90+ minutes on the off chance we get a free kick in a decent area.

Think Southgate has mistaken this for American football… Mount takes a wonderful set piece, use him instead and stop trying to shoehorn players out of position

The Mings thing is truly baffling to most people on the planet , add to that including a injured player Maguire in acl recovery is equally baffling because I'd be amazed if Maguire would be match fit at all .

White's inclusion makes sense as cover for Southgates favourites but I doubt he will start a game unless we win our first 2 games somehow.

I just think the unluckiest player of all is Dunky , being left out in favour of Mings and a injured player would leave me a bit bitter .

I'm still bitter , I may get over it it time .

Anyway good luck Ben and good luck England , your going to need it .

Mings has to play LCB as he's left footed, and yet Trippier is at LB dispite being right footed.

Oh Gareth

It’s much more important that you turn out at the back when playing CB than full back. If you always turn out as a full back you’ll concede a throw half the time.

However, I’d play Chilwell in a 3CB with wingbacks and Shaw in a back 4. It’s still mental.

Just listening to BBC Big Euros preview. They discussed our central defence quite a bit and weren't all keeping up at the back!

Chris Waddle not backing BW and not 3 at the back. Need to play a 4 with 2 in the middle. Already Coady and Mings in squad.

Chris Sutton: What message would picking BW send them?

James McFadden, It would send the message that he's taken his chance.

Chris Waddle: Would pick Kyle Walker centre half in a two with Stones. Thinks he's a good centre half. KW has more experience than BW will ever have and knows Stones. Ben White played midfield at Leeds. He didn't play centre half.

Sutton: Walker too much of a risk. Out of position. How many times has Kyle Walker played centre half before?

Waddle: I don't know. But BW: would be putting a rookie in to play alongside Stones. BW a midfield player as much as anything. Cannot see him playing along John Stones. No chance.

CS disagrees have others in that position. Got to be Mings or Coady. Or if Maguire. half fit, whack him in.

Izzy Christiansen backing Ben White suitable partner for John Stones. Mings not in form. Shaky in Romania game. BW looked fresh and confident.

I hope Waddle has the decency to be embarrassed when someone points out his mistake

The Mings thing is truly baffling to most people on the planet ,.

No joke. One podcast I listened to in the week had a Villa fan. They say, “ok let’s go to you as the Villa fan, would you be happy to see Mings in the starting line up?” (I think expecting a positive case for Mings). The chap went silent and said, “hmmm. To be fair he’s not even the fourth best defender at Villa. He does have a ricket in him”.

Even many Villa fans don’t rate Mings.

No, Mings plays and concedes a penalty then gets sent off for 2 yellow cards, as England lose and need to win next two to qualify.

I think you may have been berated by one of NSC's old school gammon who loses his sense of humour if anyone said anything less then complimentary about our dear old queen or have the temerity to be a bit foreign. Just ignore him. It's really not difficult

Another spot on post from the biggest cry baby on NSC, that has to block or pretend to block anyone that disagrees with the self-righteous bollocks he spouts. So spot on except I am a republican that would like to see the back of the Royal Family. Typical tosser that would side with those against his own country in a game of football because he still can't get out of bed since Brexit. :lolol:
