When and where did you go in Vanuatu?

Interesting place. I spent a few weeks exploring it in 1997, went to Tanna and Espiritu Santo islands, as well as the main island. Climbed Mt Yasur volcano, dived Million Dollar Point, and several other places.

It was part of a few months spent in various South Pacific countries, and I think it and the Cook Islands (especially the outlying random ones) were the highlights.

Oooh, I would have loved to see the Espiritu Santo Islands!

I stayed 10 days in Port Vila and another 10 days on Tanna. I also climbed Mt Yasur. Such a cool experience!

I went there on a whim, needing a break from Australia. Probs would have been around Sep 2008. Did you ever get to Kiribati? There, and Cooks hold a lot of appeal for me at the moment!

Sussex
I love it up in the Himalayas and also southern India and I was planning trips to a few sites in southern India,North India and possibly trying to get into a Chinese occupied part of the Himalayas that I really want to visit.
Covid and increasing tensions in the Himalayan region have stopped my plans in their tracks, but hopefully I can back get to southern India at some point in the future.
But at this point my only plans and greatest desire is to just live in a tent, outdoors,24/7,with nature,in Sussex for as long as possible.
I'm not fussed about going abroad ,I just want to be outdoors, and Sussex is a fantastic place to be outdoors in.

Great shout....it’s the sort of place that would fit with a Sir David Attenborough voiceover.......

(Hushed tones).....and here, in the shadows of the crumbling mall next to the overspilling wheelie bins, we can see a small group of hoodie-clad whey faced Poltroons, the scars of former diseases caused by neglect evident on their pockmarked, pasty complexions, as they communicate in short, unintelligible grunts........

Etc......

Back in Sussex
2 for me.

My timeshare in Ballater Aberdeenshire. Peaceful, great golf course, lovely town and masses of open space.

Second one is the cafe by the boating lake in Central Park. My go to place when I lived in Manhattan. Sitting with a coffee and listening to the jazz band jamming.

South Hams is the best

It really is an incredible place. I was so lucky to grow up there. I intend to move back down from the midlands ASAP. Dartmoor to the north and coast all around the rest. Got the tourist stuff at Torbay and the off beaten track on the south coast. Throw in some beautiful rivers - not least the dart and you have perfection. My nearest town growing up was so quirky the town sign was changed to say twinned with narnia.

Love East Prawle, that is a funny place. Cycling along that funny road at Slapton. The pub with the tower in the garden. And working your way up the dart from Totnes. Another funny place.

Totnes was my local town growing up. Mum still lives close in Harberton (my village as a kid). The walk from totnes to Dartmouth down the river is a great way to spend a day!

This has been done before.

Still Rome coz we have been locked down since the last thread so haven't been anywhere since then for it to be anywhere else. Unless I have suddenly fallen in love with my Local Tesco store.
