Has he ever been good for us? No touch or close control, couldn’t finish his dinner at the moment but for some reason is unstoppable, I mean his attempt on goal which went out for a throw sums up his performances perfectly. I mean when your top goal scorer isn’t stepping up to take a penalty surely questions should be asked.

You can certainly criticise Maupay for his finishing but his work rate and build up play is very good.

Agreed. And Maupay scoring record was decent last season. I keep saying it but whatever happened around the Spurs game seems to have ruined him

If Maupay was laying on a load of assists, he’d deserve his place.

He doesn’t. His assist stats per season are awful.

Agree, he has a couple of decent touches a game, other than that contributes zip (apparently his hold up play is good ... but so was COG!)

It's not as if he hasn't had enough game time

We might not have anything better, but our front line needs a complete overhaul

It's a results game not an emotional one and you can't dine out on performances of last year or the year before

I actually thought Maupay was trying to play others in quicker today.
The passes were all over hit, but he didn't dither as much as he normally does.

My guess is he's been made aware of a gap in his pl;ay and is trying to address it.

It still pissed me off that he overhit every ****ing pass!
But they were all in front of the player and played quickly.

So an improvement of sorts.
Definitely not the worst performing player today.

Needs to play 40 times for England so that he gets immune to criticism.

You’re getting obsessed with that. Welbeck is being criticised but Maupay is playing a lot more so obviously he will be getting more criticism when he is playing so shit and is our main attacker in a side totally inept in front of goal.

It’s not just 1 or 2 loud or perma negative posters saying this, it’s across the board form most posters including sensible and usually positive posters.

His performances can’t really be defended. He’s our main striker, picked every week and he is contributing nothing productive at all at the moment. In fact, I would say he’s a negative contribution because his passing is terrible (don’t come back with the meaningless pass completion stat you did before, I love stats but know enough about the game to see clearly his choice and weight of pass is way off) and his finishing is even worse. His touch, positioning and decision making are attrocious.

I know we don’t have a great choice up front at all but there has to be a change now.

We have 4 central strikers and I would forget Connelly unless sub. Maupay not great today but thought was better then against Palace. Did miss a chance but was less selfish and set up 2/3 chances

Like I’ve said many times beyond a decent bit of occasional hold up play and an alleged ability to finish in and around the six yard box the guy is an awful footballer. Can’t pass and can’t run with the ball.

Yet his passing statistics are better than 90% of the strikers in the top 5 leagues, amazing how shit all the others must be.

Not good enough.

This... and theres no shame in that, he was decent in the Championship, he's just not making the grade at all in the PL.

Any decent championship striiker will get a few in the PL, but can they push on and become an established PL CF? some have, many couldnt.

Maupay can't.

He is on my ruthless "bin them off" list, with Connolly, Ali J, Ryan, Propper and BDB.... none of them are consistently good enough for this level, unless the ceiling is an annual relegation battle.

I think Maupay would be a decent second striker, playing off a proper #9. But he isn’t good enough to lead the line alongside an anonymous Belgian and a Championship-level Irishman

Agreed. Unfortunately he has the first touch of a rapist and is not a natural goal scorer.

Needs 3-4 games off. His passing was very poor today, touch is just off.

So make your mind up, is it recruitment or is it the manager? Earlier you were slating those of us who still believe in the man.

I happen to think GP has been shafted by a lack of quality signings. But try and make your case without resorting to “you’re a Potter apologist” thanks.

But as a Potter apologist, dont you get it?...... its always easily this, easily that, should be, could be....... but it never actually is.
