Nope, come back in the morning and try again when you are sober :lolol:

Same answer.

If Potter is the best English coach in the game why aren't lots of other clubs sniffing round him?

No booze involved, it's a simple question. If your answer is that Chelsea only go for "name" coaches then their appointment of Lampard disproves that.

How many English managers have been approached or offered traditional big six jobs? Hardly any outside of Lampard.

The last Englishman to win the top flight is still Howard Wilkinson. Our current England manager has no premier league experience.

If Potter is the best English manager and the jury is out there, it’s pretty feint praise. We’ve not produced a manager of note for an awful long time.

Sigh

I have already told you why I think Lampard got the job. Transfer embargo so not an attractive job for a name manager and he’s a club legend.

Maybe the length of Potter’s contract and the fact that TB wants him to stay means that just maybe he’s not available? Just maybe Potter wants to finish what he started so is not touting himself either.

I am quite surprised at you tbh, I get you want Potter out because you think we should be much further up the table but you don’t seem to be in anyway impressed with what he’s done here, even if the results aren’t what they should be. Disappointing to see you basically suggesting that he’s a bit shit and wouldn’t be of interest to another club given the right circumstances.

I think you’re wrong but I really hope I don’t get to prove it for a few years yet.

Are you ITK?

Also are you denying that Lampard is a "name" in Chelsea?

That's your interpretation of a simple question posed in the OP which you've then asked me to justify.

To be clear I think he's good at everything except getting results. As I said on the match thread last night was exactly like watching two teams who's spent all their training time passing in triangles and watching videos of their opposition and none of their time acquainting themselves with the three sticks with the net thing in the middle.

Who cares where he'd go, as long as he goes. :cheery: :rave: :ascarf:

Sam Allardyce, frequently labelled the obvious saviour of the season just two months ago, may soon become available. Then you'd get the top 10 placement this squad of academy products, Championship players, Benelux players and chronically injured has-beens are allegedly capable of under any other manager, according to those living in Leeds level of delusion.

Or if you ask some of us, this bottom 6 PL squad would likely remain in the bottom 6 even if Magical Sam Allardyce or Mastermind Eddie Howe would take over.

15 months ago they were sniffing round him, that’s why he was given an enhanced contract.

Interesting.

With sacking FFL and appointing Tuchel they must have concluded that big name players need a big name coach. Yet, many are saying that Potter just needs better players

Yes, Chelsea appointing the available Tuchel who took his team to the CL final six months ago instead of appointing the already hired Potter who is coaching a bottom six team in the PL automatically means Potter is a bad coach.

How come they didnt appoint any of your three "these are better than Potter" options - Jardim, Cooper and Bilic? Surely means they are also shit?

Not really my point.

I've often seen it said on here that we play great football and are just missing the finishing touches in and around the penalty area and that, therefore, better players would create even better chances and take them. Yet the teams with the even better players seem happy to praise Potter to the rooftops and then keep him here, play us and take points off him.
Icy Gull started talking about Chelsea specifically but surely there's a big club out there somewhere who would want Brighton's style combined with real top quality players? It doesn't have to be Chelsea. Although, as EP says, they were sniffing round 15 months ago. But not now.

Also this Chelsea rabbit hole doesn't address the OP in any way since I asked IF Potter were to leave tomorrow and "who would snap up a free Potter?"
