I haven’t assumed anything. I’m open to the possibility of life elsewhere but not the probability.

As for the mathematical aspect, I don’t think you have understood my point. Probably my fault, but I don’t know any other way to explain it.

Let me , your arrogance is equal to the likelihood of the universe being empty excepting your good self .

"Truth is you make cheap jokes about Star Trek while all the time like it or not these things are there above your head "

If you mean 'above our heads' in a general sense, you may well be right, albeit millions of light years ( or even more) above our heads.

If you mean directly above, as in right above, you're whistling in the wind.

I do actually wish 'they' were, just for shits and giggles, mainly, but they really aren't.

I do wish people who say things like “there is definitely life out there” and “there are 10,000 planets that could support life” would just do some basic research rather than going directly to deep theory without passing confirmed science.
Facts are important here.
Listen to a few episodes of The Infinite Monkey Cage. Most of these theories are discussed over the many series and boiled down to the facts. Seriously, give it a listen, I think it would do a lot of good

If you wish to make progress here, you’re going to have to approach it with a calmer attitude. You seem like a good poster, please don’t go down the well trodden NSC path of getting frustrated and throwing insults around. You seem better than that.

Totally agree i believe in Aliens but always had a problem with the connection with the nazis , i mentioned it because of its popularity as a subject Re : The kecksburg incident . I know the Washington treaty was ignored by Germany , hence Tirpitz and Bismarck among others . But we got Nelson and Rodney even under the treaty , and the Rodney kicked the crap out of Bismarck , albeit with the help of KGV . But i still believe that there is something to hitlers paranormal beliefs , they are well documented .

I disagree that it is well documented, there is some evidence to suggest an interest, but it seems he was most interested in developing a cult of Nazi.
In any case, Hitler had many beliefs that were unfounded.

No, we didn't exactly evolve from Apes, but the Apes are our closest relative, that is we share a common ancestor more recently than we do with any other living thing around today. We are related to every living thing on this planet, we have something like a 98% similarity in DNA with Chimpanzees, but only a 30% or so similarity to a lettuce.
Apparently humans have 46 chromosomes and potatoes 48 , you mention lettuce , that would be the Croydon area then .

Here's one that has disturbed me for decades

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Keith_Lyon

I've been along that path numerous times, lived in Woodingdean for years and never knew anything about this murder.
Being a calm and considerate person I fail to see how anyone could commit murder, and I can't imagine doing so by plunging a knife into someone's body numerous times.
And this was a 12 year old child's body. Poor kid!
Pity they haven't caught the absolute c**t who could do such a thing.

Aliens
Nazis stealing alien technology
The Earth is a big computer game.

There’s a reason these are unsolved mysteries. Because they’re bullshat.

1960s policing and a massive bit of 'looking after our own' there, I suspect. I lived in Rottingdean till 63 and those places were where I lived.

That’s not being close minded dude. All that Science cares about is evidence. It’s actually a great thing and why it will always trump religion. There’s no Gods in science.

I think I see what you’re getting at. Closed minded is the wrong term maybe. Science evolves. And it will always prove itself wrong. At first we thought the sun was evolving around the earth, with each discovery we’re humbling ourselves to realise we’re not actually that special.

At the moment there is no known way to travel faster than light. Einstein said it was impossible, but who knows. I believe that’s a big part of what’s going on at CERN with the Hadron collider experiments. I think in terms of making contact, we’re more likely to see some kind of Neumann probes sent to observe then actual space travel. As nanotech becomes more realised (and cheap) there’ll be little incentive for human space journeys which is expensive and dangerous.

There may be some interesting discoveries in the next 20 years or so (I hope). There’s already talk of now “zooming in” to where we’ve discovered exoplanets to observe in more detail. Searching atmospheres for traces of pollution, of waste, for example... Interesting times ahead and we’ve barely scraped the surface.

Much appreciated , i hope were all still here to see it .

When I was comparing Jesus to Hermes words I was referring to when Jesus said the kingdom of God is within us.
I take that to mean the same as Hermes,Buddha and Krishna, that we are all capable of experiencing oneness with God and live our lives in a higher state of consciousness, but obviously Roman emperors don't like the idea of that, they want the power over the population as you say maybe Jewish leaders at the time maybe thought the same.

Suppose to a degree Jesus delivered which is more than can be said for Hermes. Well to the right address.

Excellent , common ground thank you and i take it back . Normally i am better than that , but this is a passion with me after seeing something unbelievable . I was extremely lucky to be with several friends , so not mad but both terrified and excited at the same time . One of our number refuses point blank to talk about it , he wont except it happened at all . Years later i still have a look up every now and then .

Please have a read of this Oxford study published in Nov 2020 that concludes the probability of intelligent life elsewhere, esp in the Milky Way is very low. This is the latest thinking and worth reading if one wants to be informed.

In the study, scientists at Oxford’s Future Humanitarian Institute believe that as life on Earth evolves, in many cases it depends on a series of “revolutionary changes”. Given how late intelligent life evolved on this planet, the chances of similar advances occurring on other planets, before they could no longer sustain life, were not very likely, they said.
“It took about 4.5 billion years of continuous evolution, resulting in a brilliant life on Earth,” they wrote. Paper published last month. “In another billion years, the rising light of the sun will make the earth uninhabitable for complex life.

“Along with the scattering time of major evolutionary changes and reliable predecessors, it can be concluded that the expected transition times may be longer than the lifespan of the Earth, perhaps by several commands,” he wrote. “In turn, this suggests that intelligent life may be exceptionally rare.”

To reach their results, the scientist looked at statistical models to determine the probability that the sequence of evolutionary changes that took place on Earth might occur elsewhere.

So exceptionally rare, not impossible. But highly improbable.

Here are the study results. It's quite in depth but if you'd like some objective information by some of the best scientists in the world, you could do a lot worse.

Personal experience of such things can stay with you and as you say, inspires passion. Despite my belief that we are highly probably alone, there are vast areas of science we know little or nothing about. Heck , we don't even know what 99% of space is made of! So if science was turned on it's head tomorrow, it would not surprise me. Well, maybe a little bit :)
