just a shit load of pigs in blankets.....???
Any pork pie? It's not a buffet without pork pie.

I recall Steve McClaren being described as looking like "A piece of mouldy pork pie, leftover from a cheap wedding buffet".

And speaking of Mouldy. He's a **** and has sunk to a new low.

As someone else has already said, this has nothing to do with left and right. The branding would be a bit extreme, but as a fully paid up leftie, I think they should be absolutely clobbered.

It would be more likely your idiot overly libertarian hero Boris, who hates not allowing people to do things, who would be crying. Keir Starmer, on the other hand, would want it dealt with properly...... as would ANY OTHER sensible leader.

You say that but it always comes across on here that the solid lefties love to stamp their feet and ignore all the rules and say DC went to a castle and the mirror said he should not have done. Well, feck the tories we can have a party and pull the DC card out when needed and it gets us off the hook.
Keir is doing so well just 6 %!! Pop over to the bearpit if you want to know more about how loved he is.
Most lefties are your Glastonbury types that can't help but to forget what's going on around you and just whack their wellies on and make their placards up and do what they like.

Summary.

I believe there is a division from right and left with these mass party goers.

I'm intelligent enough to understand there have been a few issues with an orthodox religion that (for obvious reasons) has cut itself off from others and is generally mistrustful (or usually never engages with) advice from outside their community.

This isn't an issue outside of a pandemic but has become an albeit small one this year. Under the first lockdown, there were clearly some who weren't ignoring the lockdown, they were simply unaware there was one.

This incident is very very different which is why their religious leaders have thrown their whole wrath at them today.

But yes, talk of "branding" is so off the scale in terms of its historical context, if I was a moderator that would be an instant and life long ban.

Very well put. Thank you.

I was wondering how the happy couple would feel if just 1 of the now 150 guests was carrying COVID and managed to infect both them and their guests resulting in them all meeting up again in intensive care in a couple of weeks. Maybe they could get a deal on the funerals.

Mouldy Boots has been banned for his comment.

On that note please could future posts stay on topic and not descend into lazy comments about kosher food etc or the thread will go.

Thanks

If you could be bothered to read the comments in the Moderating Section you’d know the answer to your question. I’ll leave you with it.

Ultra orthodox will mean not exactly in tune with rest of society. I remember living amongst in N.Manchester’s Ultra Orthodox Jews in the 90s and it was v.odd. Timid and isolated and then some! Really hard to describe how detached from mainstream society they are. No bother but perhaps I appreciate better than most how it was possible for this event to occur. Not condoning btw.

I’m amazed at how few the Police have fined. If we’re really serious about preventing spread then the Police should have sealed off the building. Nobody gets in or out until every single person has been arrested, handcuffed and taken to a police station/charged. Jail the organisers as well as fine.

Before anyone says that’s unrealistic, it isn’t. Greater numbers have been arrested in UK legal history at a single event such as illegal raves back in the day. It can be done. Preti Patel on her podium talking about tougher measures looks weak because of this story. Sure she’ll be furious and demanding answers from Police Chiefs / demanding their heads and rightly so. Situation is a little more serious than bunch of teenagers illegally occupying warehouses for one night parties. Yet Thatcher put an end to that scene. Why can’t current government do similarly in an infinitely more serious almost wartime period in our history?

Williamsburg in Brooklyn has one of the largest populations of Hassidic and Ultra Orthodox Jews in the US. There were several incidences in the press where they held services and weddings in defiance of public health guidelines. There were angry protests when Andrew Cuomo, the Governor of New York, announced he was going to partially shut down areas of Brooklyn to prevent a second wave saying they were being targeted. Surely in a pandemic cultural sensitivities must be secondary to the overall public good

Most of the non Tory people I know, and a fair number of the Tories as well, despaired of the Dominic Cummings issue and would agree it sent ALL the wrong signals, but would also still stick by the rules. As usual you’re wrong.

And for the most part I don’t bother with the bear pit, just leave them to get on with it. I occasionally go in there just for a laugh.

A lot here being mentioned about them being Othordox Jews.

They didn't break the law because of their Religion. They broke the law because they were selfish people. And they aren't selfish people because they are Othordox Jews.

Loads of people have broken the Law including all those Students in University Halls in Coventry.

They should all be hammered with fines for it And fines I agree should be higher on people who organise such Events.

The sad thing now is that these people will now spread the Virus around the larger Jewish Community.

I have heard that Rave Events. Around 50 to 100 have taken place during Lock Down . Don't know how true they are but it is absolutely irresponsible. The Laws should be enforced more stringently on all groups who break the Law but when they are caught I think people shouldn't rush to judge and blame or cite Religion as being a potential underlying cause of the Law breaking.

In London 1 in 55 have Covid. So there would be 3 guests spreading the glad tidings.
