Villa V Spurs next Tuesday

Spurs already have had 2 games moved (both Fulham)

No room for re-arranged fixture

PL needs to start enforcing the 14 player rule.

The trouble is, we are dangerously close to damaging "the integrity of the competition". If, at some point, we have to stop the competition, how do you ensure fairness if (say) Fulham have avoided having to play two tricky away matches (as is the case currently)? And if you enforce the 14 player rule NOW, surely that advantages the teams whose games were postponed BEFORE the rule was enforced?

Man City and another club went away to the UAE and have come back with the virus. They have been allowed to cancel games. They should have been told the under 18's. If Villa have done something equally selfish they also should play the youth team. Premier League are not covering themselves in glory.

I agree.

The issue is the league didn’t follow the rules the first time it happened.

It is actively in some team's interest to have a Covid outbreak within their club. I'm sure Big Sam would welcome one right now, ideally so every match gets postponed until the transfer window shuts, at which point he'll be able to field a side made up of new loan players and have a fighting chance of avoiding relegation.

I mean we didn’t wear the pinstripe kit until the cup final when we were already relegated ... but apart from that

Thanks for the reminder. I was starting to think that the alignment was complete as I’d have to delay a holiday for the cup final (no chance of a replay this time and it was for that game last time) - assuming we are able to attend games / go on holiday by then.

It was all looking far too much like ‘83.

Yet Tuesdays game against Spurs is in doubt? Surely if they can put out a team tonight, even if it is a youth side, surely the arguement should be that they can put a side out on Tuesday night?

There’s a very good argument for forcing them to play the league game, if they can field any kind of side tonight.

I was under the impression league fixtures are priority ?

By the way, I would hold the same view if it was Spurs

You can’t have rules in place and then stop them at the first time they are needed.

Morally wrong for football to continue, over 1,300 announced dead today, sure to rise over the coming weeks. Reprehensible that elite sport has continued on despite a supposed lockdown.

Awkward one - but need to balance that thought with apart from having plenty of football to watch things are pretty bleak for millions. I assume you think they should stop filming, say, The Chase as well ? All those staff involved, contestants having to travel to the studio etc ??
