I don’t want to derail the thread, but May formed a government on the basis of a working majority - so shouldn’t have mattered how the other party MPs voted - she also had a chunk of Labour MPs backing her don’t forget. People do form these strange narratives - the main split was her own party.

True - but if Labour and Lib Dems had wanted a softer option, they could have had it (in spite of some hard line Tory Brexiteers rebelling against the government) - instead they tried to pretend it never happened/would go away, so ultimately they got it wrong.

Maybe if all the anti-Brexit lot - Labour and Lib Dem - in Parliament hadn't based their policies on hindering May's government in the forlorn hope that somehow they could pretend the referendum never happened and Brexit would go away they could have had the much softer Brexit deal they are now wishing for.
They too are the ones who can reap what they have sown.
They can own it too (but they won't).

They had no power at all to do anything about the type of Brexit chosen and were outvoted at every stage.

The original point is that if May had wanted to bring as much of the UK population along with her as possible she would have consulted citizens assemblies before formulating her strategy.

She didn't, so the Government gets what it gets. And gets to own it all.

um .....it's a bad virus and it's not going away , your predicament is different re your wife , i wish you well ...............they are now saying it has mutated to be more virulent and more damaging to the young but they are not sure ......wtf... have a look at the demographic of where the virus has flared up , it's plain that lots of people are ignoring direct instructions either through belligerence or ignorance ........we had our xmas golf day last tuesday , some of the blokes were unaware of the track and trace app or the necessity to sign in to pubs, restaurants etc..... it's like they have been living under a rock .

Our Government were informed of this more virulent strain back on September 20th and still we are caught unawares? you couldn't make it up.

I went to a local shopping centre here in Eastbourne last week, its a covered mall, within two minutes whilst making my way to the supermarket in there i counted five different people without face masks! so immediately turned around and left, these people were all mid twenties to fifties age range so what chance do we have in trying to quell the rise in infections? if people ignore the rules and selfishly carry on with their relentless spreading all the sacrifices made by the majority are pointless.

yes indeed , but if you are wearing a mask and distance yourself from those who aren't then you should be fine we had thousands of people fly in from all over the world , they only lifted border controls less than 2 weeks ago , everyone who flew in was supposed to go into 14 day isolation but clearly they haven't , there are some pretty big names involved , film stars and politicians ...but the worst is that the sydney flare up has apparently been traced to an airport shuttle driver for cabin crew and pilots ....this goon has been ferrying people around sydney for 2 weeks whilst infected ....it's a ****ing joke.

Our Governments latest advice according to the chief scientific officer is to assume you carry the virus and to act accordingly i.e. Keep away from everyone as much as is practical, space, face, wash your hands etc.it's not rocket science and is easily carried out with a little personal disciplin, I know from experience as have done all these things since February/ March before any lockdown was introduced whilst shielding a very vulnerable wife. Yet this effing virus is more and more prevalent !! What do YOU think is the reason eh?

I think it's spreading because it is a highly contagious virus that we have no immunity to. Whether a big portion of this is because of a few prats in supermarkets not wearing a mask properly is probably down to your outlook, because I doubt there is any evidence for this being a route cause. You can be wearing your mask perfectly but touch your forehead while looking at a tin of beans then putting the tin back, well there is potentially the virus ready for the next shopper mask or not...

Oh for goodness sake. He is getting asked the same question by the same journalists and they know he is not going to disclose the progress of negotiations in reply to their question. I would imagine that Tony has a little chuckle as well every time he is asked about negotiations with potential new strikers. Internet propaganda really is in overdrive on this thread.
