He did make a valid point about English fans complaining about the hand of God goal. ' England won a World Cup due to a goal that shouldn't have been given' In reference to the decisive 3rd goal in the final. To be fair I don't think that goal was over the line either.

That always annoys me. England won 4-2, not 3-2.

For me, all Englands hard luck stories was of our own doing, no one curses Steve Hodge for kicking the ball backwards in his own box and it's usually those poor decisions or poor discipline that cost us. You make your own luck.

That aside Maradonna's individual goal was good enough to win any match and 86 Mexico was all about Maradonna, not gonna argue history should be different

Don't get the idea that you make your own luck!! It's an oxymoron! He cheated and the officials didn't see it. I doubt Hodge was actually trying to kick it back into his own box, he was stretching to get under a challenge. The second goal was, however, sublime. Best individual WC goal although it doesn't eclipse my all time favourite by Alberta.

Yes...

But that last goal would not have been scored if it had been 2-2 at the time. There is no way that West Germany would have been so light at the back in the last minute of extra time.

RIP to one of the true greats. I saw him play live just the once, for Napoli at Bologna in an Italian Cup game. Both sets of fans were singing his name and he scored twice as Naploi won 4-2. He was absolutely superb, it was an unforgettable experience.

I disagree about it being valid. The England taem didn't break any rules in scoring that goal.

If buts or maybes.

I won’t speak ill of the dead, so I won’t comment on the thread subject.

Judging by the scream touching Solly March's shinpad induces, in the modern era he'd never get off the ground.

Staying on your feet. I wonder if Grealish has watched how you play the game this way.

One thing I detest is comparing players, especially from different eras, it seems you can't talk about Lionel Messi without someone chiming in saying Ronaldo is better. They are completely different players anyway. Same with Pele and Maradonna, what makes them the greats is they are unique in their own right and not comparable
