Only one of the trips I had to quarantine after, that was turkey. I didn't mind so much as I was WFH anyway. Mexico I guess I will have to quarantine but that will be mid Jan so not so fussed.

Semi business locations like Milan, Paris, dublin, Frankfurt so that might be a reason as well. Although I really can't see that many people flying those routes for business at the moment. So all a bit odd.

British Airways will reportedly suspend all flights from the UK's second-biggest airport and furlough "many more" staff as new lockdown measures take effect.

The airline, which said the restrictions were a "blow to our hopes for the winter season", will ground more aircraft and suspend all flights from Gatwick airport, it has bene reported.

In a letter seen by Sky News, BA management will reduce operating for the rest of November.

The carrier said: "We have made the difficult decision to further reduce our operation for the rest of November.

"This means far fewer flights than we hoped for in November and means grounding more of our aircraft, including pausing all flights from Gatwick until December."

The airline said the shut down would mean "moving many more colleagues, from both operational and support function areas on to the governments extended Job Retention Scheme".

It comes as Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced the extension of the furlough scheme until the end of March.

The letter seen by Sky News said British Airways will continue flights to repatriate customers overseas and for the movement of essential cargo.

From what I have been told, this will smash the short haul companies - easyjet/ryan air - more than the lon haul companies - as they have calculated low numbers anyway.

We will see one big airline fail soon, if it is easyjet Gatwick may as well close.

Reckon IAG will come through this, long haul travellers more inclined to pay for testing prior to travel. If you're flying Easyjet to Alicante for £60 return will you pay circa £120 for a test?

They were in deep trouble pre Covid, occupying financial pages in 2019 with words such as “embattled”. Up to their eyeballs in debt, badly run, in the end the Norwegian government lost patience with this private airline.

Obviously CV19 put the final knife in.

We finally managed to get a large refund out of them back in July.

A shame, we enjoyed flying with them, in hindsight were their great value flights their undoing?

Word of the street is there's been a surge in holiday enquiries for 2021 in the past 2 days. Don't expect too many bargains, the airlines have big losses to make up.

Interesting airline shares have rocketed since Monday

They were in deep trouble pre Covid, occupying financial pages in 2019 with words such as “embattled”. Up to their eyeballs in debt, badly run, in the end the Norwegian government lost patience with this private airline.

Obviously CV19 put the final knife in.

We finally managed to get a large refund out of them back in July.

A shame, we enjoyed flying with them, in hindsight were their great value flights their undoing?

Their long haul product was outstanding imo and it's a real pity that it looks as if Covid is going to wipe them out. In a 'normal' world I think they may well have pulled through, they seemed to be adjusting their pricing and schedules pre Covid to what might be considered more sensible (at least from the outside anyway)

Overall things looking brighter but the days of cheap travel are over, at least for now

On 11th October, I booked three direct Virgin London to Orlando returns, with both legs within the school summer holidays, inclusive of seat reservations and bags for £828. In normal times you'd be looking at more than that for one seat, let alone three.

Granted I’ve only looked at 2 routes - but these were numerous dates.

I imagine they have put them up to say it’s a sale for Black Friday when they discount again

No, nothing booked other than the flights thus far, but you are correct - you have to book a park for a specific day. There's been no park-hopping, but a single hop, after 2pm, is being introduced. Still no Fastpasses, no ADRs, no character meets, no parades, no fireworks, most shows are not operational, masks mandatory everywhere inside and out.

We'll see how things develop before deciding what we do. If the parks are still a very diluted experience, and I fully understand why, we'll do other things.
