This week's answers. Note that there has been a tightening of the rules. When a person's name is requested only the full and correct name is allowed (spelling errors are fine). Thus 'Ian McNab', for example, was marked down. 'Neal MacNabb' would have been acceptable, if you get my drift.

This is the first I've heard of this rule change. I wonder which player was unlucky enough to put 'Ian' MacNabb when he clearly meant Neal, and was denied a 'goal' as a result? I really hope the rules weren't amended just to penalise that particular player. Such an action would border on corruption.

Post 352- Summer domestic season:

'Interesting challenge for my rather soft 'They know who they mean' rule that allows a point sometimes for incomplete answers.

So to clarify the tightening rule following a late night edict by the Lines Lodge committee.

1) Where a person's name is required a surname is fine only. However, as has happened in this round, there are occasions when it may not be. 'Francis' was not an acceptable answer because it could have referred to both Gerry or Trevor.
2) One person answered 'Hayden someone' to the Watford question and was given the point as it was deemed to qualify under the rule. This is very lenient but allowed as the person clearly knew who they meant. It won't be allowed next season.
3) If a first name is incorrect, but it is absolutely clear that the person knows who they are referring to, a point may be given provided there is no ambiguity. This happened on the referee question.
4) Club abbreviations are fine if it is clear that there is only one club a person could be referring to. E.g Orient, BHA, PNE, Wolves, MASSIVE, Man U etc.

This rule will be made tighter next season'

The only way such an answer could be made tighter would be to ask for correct first name and second names- thus avoiding imbalanced marking.

The rule has now been made tighter and evenly applied. The specific rule had not been advised to players, but as the direction of your results was unaffected it was still applied. Thus your answer which would only have been correct if I had requested the lead singer of the Icicle Works would have been correct. An extra point for naming their most popular single 'Kevo is a wonderful whinger'.
