why open the thread? are you retired?

2nd question's relevance baffles me.

The first question is slightly better though. A thread, whether it be PPV, best song about jelly or F1 in this instance, is there for comment.
Not all comment should be in favour, for a healthy and rounded viewpoint. A comment should be the view of the individual upon that matter, from whatever perspective.

I'm pleased you're using what's left of yours to pick on my personal standpoint.

I've reached this age managing to avoid any affection for this particular sport (less any rare viewings of potential first bend carnage), I doubt anything will change now.

TBH F1 gives a very distorted/unaturally sanitised view of motorsport. reality for 99% of participants is very different.

I agree but I have no interest in cricket so I don’t feel the need to go on a cricket thread and suggest that it’s a shit sport and how I’d rather watch Lacrosse

I have no problem if you want to diss Formula One I just find it a bit odd that you comment at all on something you don’t like.

As you say, each to their own.

Comments on things other than sports you don’t like are fair game I agree

I've never had to have the thought before today about which is harder, F1 or snooker? The quality of debate never dips.

Congrats Lewis. One of our greatest ever sportsmen

So why are you posting here?

I hope you've enjoyed this brief foray into a thread about a sport you don't like, but perhaps instead you could try posting over here and tell thousands of people that you're a timewaster: https://forum.planetf1.com/

Absolutely agree. But what I would say is that commenter's entering a thread that's been running for a while, and presenting a dissenting viewpoint, should at least take the time and effort to expand on their reasoning such that their dissenting comment can become a discussion point, rather than just leaving a throwaway comment that they don't like the sport.

I agree.

An example of such might be the earlier comment about best car, going around in a circle etc. Simplified, but valid nonetheless.

I suggest anyone who thinks doing so is easy to watch the top gear episode where Richard tried to drive a Renault F1 car, he could barely move the thing. And anyone who has done Go Karting knows it physically wrecks your body, I did a 50 minute race and even though I’m fit and active the next day I felt like I’d been hit by a bus, and that’s just with the G you pull in a little go kart. F1 drivers lose up to 3 KG’s of weight every race, it’s one of the biggest challengers of core endurance you can do.

New F1 circuits have become sanitised but unfortunately with the health and safety aspect that’s something that is always going to happen, it’s lucky we have all the old legendary circuits to balance some of the more dull ‘sanitised’ tracks out.

Each to there own but the branding of F1 as not a sport and driving round in circles is just lazy ignorance.

I am not particularly interested in F1 but I stumbled accross this on Youtube which certainly change my understanding of the challenge of driving an F1 car.

I bet I and many NSCers could thrash him at pool after 5 pints though.

Karting can be brutal. I have a GPS thing in my car, hooked up to a lap timer and data logger on my phone, its nowhere near hi tech but useful enough for historic racing, where most technology is not allowed ( although does get used)

even on old crossply race tyres ( slipwell Nevergrips) I can see up to 2G . . . after a 1hr race, say at Spa, or Brands GP I probably loose about 1kg. There's a multitude of reasons most races are quite short by comparisson to a GP.
