Went out twice on Tuesday having barely gone out at all so far. Lunch at The Cock in Wivelsfield Green and dinner at The Sloop in Scaynes Hill. Both excellent and around £15/head in total for food and soft drinks for 4 people both times.

I have been to a number of local restaurants around where I live in Hertfordshire and in Granary Square in London but have also started going out on days when the scheme doesn’t apply. After 5 months of shielding I think it helped to give me the confidence to venture into them again and they have all been very well organised and felt safe.

One bit of credit to much maligned government on this one. Seems to have worked as planned and credit to HMRC who established a quick and easy online system for registration and payment.

As a cafe owner in West Dorset, it has been a boon for business and helped many locals of a certain age (of whom there is a disproportionate amount in this area) get out and socialise.

I think the government have been very poor during the pandemic but this is one thing they’ve done well on.

Everywhere in central Brighton into Hove was thriving last night. The nature of the saving is encouraging people to stay for drinks afterwards as well, going by the crowds.
