Not really sure why you don’t think Schlupp is any good I think his a great player with an eye for goal. McArther would have been my player of the season, Kelly is a good squad player who played anywhere along the back four and Henderson is a 3rd choice keeper who is ok being so.

Not sure why you would be so eager to reinvest in squad that finished last season LLLLLLLD, with Roy still at the helm and Bournemouth fella wanting £100k a week.

There’s very little time to get things sorted for that, in terms of allowing time for the “who I want to go with” phase, and then conducting the ballot and having winners choose and pay for their seats.

...and presumably none of that could commence until test events have passed whatever scrutiny is required, and we still don’t know when or where they will be. The Amex friendlies over the next two Saturdays are supposedly in the running for that.

...we'll have just watched the first MotD of the 2020/21 season.

We won't have occupied our usual "last in the running order" slot, due to having not played.

But, in the next three weeks...

- we need to be able to tell the club our designated "I wanna go to games with..." groups
- we need to opt out of the games we can't make or don't fancy
- there could be one or two Covid "test events" at the Amex
- the club need to do the Chelsea ballot
- a lot of people will get VERY upset at losing the Chelsea ballot
- a few people will announce they found a golden ticket in a chocolate bar but are unable to go, so will be popping their ticket onto the ticket exchange
- a lot of people will get VERY upset at missing out on the ticket exchange for a Chelsea ticket - "it was in my basket FFS, Barber OUT!"
- we need to keep pointing and laughing at Leeds
- Ben White needs to be given the number 3
- we need a fella capable of scoring all the goals

....and much more besides.

This will feel a bit like turning the clock back around 6 months when you were one of those talking all of this down, and I was suggesting there was a real need for concern, but my gut feel is we're heading back in the same direction now.

There are, however, many positives we have now relative to then that all come under the broad umbrella of "knowing a shit load more about this thing and how to deal with it", but with education restarting, with schools back now, universities to follow in the next few weeks, the furlough scheme scheduled to wind up and increased pressure for people to get back into work settings, I can't see how we avoid a dramatic surge in infections.

If that occurs, it's then a case of what does happen with hospitalisations and death rates and may just come down to how much we are prepared to "allow" as we tiptoe towards vaccine deployment.

Your number for further games at the Amex ties in with the number they were given for first matches back at Liverpool, being 12,500 fans in a 54000 stadium. That is an identical ratio to ours at 7,500. I guess there is a PL rule regarding seats to fans allowed.

I'd agree with this. The only thing our group said after the Chelsea game was it was hard ti imagine coming out of the AMEX to more people than for that game. We left pretty much after the final whistle and it was very busy outside the stadium even with (presumably) less than 2,500 people. The concourse and stairs felt okay as everyone was going in the same direction but outside would need very careful management of areas like train queues, getting over the railway bridge etc. And of course the whole train situation would have to be managed very well, presumably by making sure the car parking capacity was as high as possible. I think it is achievable and I'd like to think it will happen but it isn't going to be easy, and might involve mandatory face masking for all areas leading up to the AMEX as well as inside?

I think some of the older more traditional stadiums may face an issue with concourse spacing, something not really an issue for us and why the Amex was suitable for a test event.

There could be a ground up the M23, for example, that may face greater capacity restrictions.

That was supposed to be the case for the Chelsea game and from my observations, most people did! We took the "no booze beyond here" lines heading towards the station as the mask/de-mask point.

The media are in full on panic mode though so we will see if its impacted.
