I said test cricket RULES, the simple fact is they don’t do everything they possibly could to get as much play done as possible, if you see a day is going to be rained off almost certainly like we knew in this match then find a way to fit more overs in on days where the weather conditions are perfect, bad light constantly causes issues in English summers, so start play earlier if needed.

The West Indies series there was a game where nearly an entire day is rained off, they have hundreds of overs to make up and yet still they start at 11am It’s ridiculous, where is the common sense? The simple fact we can do a day night test and yet we can’t start play due to bad light at 11am in itself is utter hilarity and makes test cricket look totally moronic.

However isn't cricket governed by Laws as opposed to Rules, and in respect of Test Cricket the ICC refer to Playing Conditions, where under the Laws 2.3.1.2 and Conditions 2.3.2 reference the hours of play.

Def, " Laws " in my book. As I recall a certain amount of time can be made up on other days if a day is lost or rain reduces play. However, you can't make up 6 hours lost play as I believe that the start time can only be brought forward half an hour due to needing the dew to evaporate off AND its a bit unfair for ticket holders who may be travelling quite some distance who might not make the early start.

Anyone know what the worst ever rain affected test match has been? I vaguely recall possibly a game on the subcontinent in monsoon season which was completely washed out, also I recall a test match against Australia probably a couple of series ago now where the first two days were totally washed out without a ball being bowled.

Will be the fewest overs managed In England since 1931 if there is no more play. Why they don’t just call it off now I don’t know, there is zero chance of a result and bad light will come into play at 4/5pm as usual.
