CH is probably waiting for the 'perfect' job, which will either arrive or he might then lower his sights or not!

Aston Villa have hired Craig Shakespeare as an assistant manager, potentially paving the way for John Terry to depart to become a manager?

I would suggest that you are actually agreeing with what I have said.

As previously noted - there are far more candidates than jobs available. And I actually disagree with your suggestion about 'targeting young progressive managers' (and 'young' does not automatically make you 'progressive' - whatever that actually means - it also does not mean that you are any good at the job). Of the 8 existing managers of PL clubs have been appointed in the PL since 2019 - 5 could not be regarded as falling into that category. The average lifespan of a manager in the Championship is less than 14 months - and it tends to be the 'young progressive managers' who get sacked very quickly. It should also be noted that two of the three clubs that were promoted this season were in receipt of parachute payments which gave them a massive advantage over the other clubs they were competing with. Clubs with real ambition in the championship will go for a manager with a proven track record who knows how to get the job done.

As for Hughton - he will work again - if he doesn't manage to find a suitable position in England (and he can afford to pick and choose his job), it is only a matter of time before he becomes manager of the Republic of Ireland team.

You can suggest it ... but your wrong.

What I’m saying is CH may be waiting for what he ‘perceives’ as the right job .... however the jobs he might want they might not want him.

You can disagree with me about ‘young progressive managers’ as much as you like, it doesn’t make it not true.

A large number of teams are looking at manager who can play a possession based style of football rather than a pragmatic defensive style. Now I’m not arguing which is best because that discussion has been done to death.

My point is that at some point CH might have to be a bit less selective if he wishes to get back into club football.

As is the case with every job - dozens of candidates apply for managerial vacancies on an ongoing basis - few are ever interviewed and fewer still end up in negotiations with the club.

Yet the evidence suggests the opposite - 5 of the 8 current PL managers who were appointed since 2019 would not be in the 'progressive young manager' category - and 2 of the 3 appointed landed with a top 6 club which, to be honest, they didn't really merit.

My point is that at some point CH might have to be a bit less selective if he wishes to get back into club football.
That may happen - he may also decide that he is not interested in being a club manager just for the sake of it - he has served his time doing that and has generally been treated poorly (as tends to happen all managers) - I think that he will only take a job if he is happy that the club have ambition and the back-up to put it into place (the same reason why he took the Brighton job). If the right opportunity doesn't come along I could see him biding his time and taking the job as Irish manager in a couple of years. I may be wrong - but Hughton does not strike me as the kind of guy who will lower his standards just to get back into club management.

The most curious thing..
What do unemployed football managers actually do?

Play lots of golf?
Wonder how long the severance package will last?
Become a delivery driver for Asda or Amazon?

It would be a bit difficult to get a job as a PL manager - given the fact that there aren't any PL vacancies at the moment

It’s very hard to see him picking up a PL job unless it’s halfway through the season and a team finds themselves in the bottom 3.

To any team looking to move away from being in a relegation battle or looking to play a more modern style of play it’s clear CH is not going to be fancied.

And what we are seeing in the championship, more and more teams, especially the ones looking for top 6, are starting to favour a possession based game.

I’m not saying there isn’t going to be jobs out there for him, there will be. But the CH bum lickers on here will have us believe he can walk into any job he wants.

There are two people on this forum who believe Hughton will get a Premier League job.

He won't, unless he gets a club promoted. That's the reality.

Nice bloke but possibly too nice.

When the players went on the piss for those three weeks when it was harder to blow the Championship title than win it? Sadly told me everything I needed to know.

I don't think the majority of Bournemouth fans will be happy with that appointment judging by the comments in the local paper.
Hmm, I can't see a swift return to the Prem. for them and nor can the fans on their forum now that the appointment has been confirmed.
