Always went to the Black Horse after an Albion game and watch the football, Steve the landlord was a Newcastle fan and made us very welcome, there's was always good banter with Steve, the Harvey's Best was top notch.

This, Steve even gave me a spare pair of tix once over the bar for a Squeeze concert across the road 10 minutes before it started.

Steve was great. I knew him from when he ran The Market Inn but they moved back up to Newcastle last year.

He was in Brighton 20+ years and always had a season ticket for Newcastle. Him and his wife, Sheila, would fly up for most home games. Mental ********.

Those of you who are in the vicinity shouldn't be saying I'll never go in there again.
What you need to do is:-

Walk in, perhaps in a jaunty fashion!
Go to the bar
(in a cheery voice) "Hello, this is nice, is this the pub which is home to Brighton Kop?"
"Yes, yes it is"
"Great I'll know never come back here again".
"Come everybody we'll go somewhere else".

You’d definitely hate it ( whispers to other lovers of the black horse to keep telling HT it’s shit)

Why don’t they just double the prices and give the beers silly names to improve it?

As much as the whole concept of that club baffles me, I can see how:

a) They're worth a lot of money every week
b) You'd probably not want fans of teams they are playing in there at the same time, as a general rule

Obviously it becomes a bit of a farce when they're turning away Albion fans but I wouldn't have an issue with the landlords because of it. If you're a regular there, that's a bit different...

They actually make my skin crawl. They were all parading up to the station last season before the game with flags etc - then whole of the away end was absolutely silent most of the game.

Is the Geordie fella still in charge as I can’t see him telling BHA they ain’t welcome? Always been a good old school watering hole. Remember it was one of about four pubs in Brighton I could get served in when I was 15-16.

Pubs aren't supposed to be showing football are they? Were they?

Pubs and bars will be allowed to show live sport on television when they reopen in England from 4 July, though many may choose not to do so as they attempt to adhere to government guidelines.

Boris Johnson announced last week that pubs would be able to open under regulations limiting contact between staff and customers to reduce the possibility of Covid-19’s resurgence.

However, they will be encouraged to keep noise at a minimum in order to discourage shouting, which is thought to increase the spread of the virus, so volume on the TV may be much lower than normal, or even turned off.

Anyone know what pubs might be showing the game in town tomorrow?

Don’t fancy trying this place now that they’ve let ‘The Kop’ in.
