IMO the north stand should be all safe standing, that would be the single most important change to improve the atmosphere, the new shelf priced for fans from the north to be able to sit .

Wouldn't it appear in the drawings of the North Stand if so?

Nothing there at all in the plans which only seem to cover the new upper tier in the north stand. There was no planning application for the SE corner as far as I am aware so presumably there won't be for the NE corner either.

Never understood why the Police Box is in the North Stand.
Surely it would make sense that they are where the issues occur (in the South Stand by the away fans).

Easy solution, make the police box the Sky box/ corporate lounge put the police box in the Sky box/ corporate lounge in the south east corner. I am so good.

Perfect place to put all the fluffbuckets that want to sit in silence but still retain the Altered Carbon state of wanting to sit in the North Stand like the good old days.

Fluffbuckets - excellent term.

As for the expansion and prawn sandwich angle think both very much needed in this day and age. Most on here felt they’d NEVER fill the original
1901 at 5k seats and now we have three additional lounge/corporate areas with the prospect of a fourth joining. Marvellous scenes.

You only have to look at our relative paucity of match day revenue - lower mid table - in Premier league terms to understand why changes like this are important to us competing.

Sure hark back to the old days of bunking in under turnstiles, drinking bovril and pissing in a cow trough but don’t kid yourselves that these things changing are why atmospheres are utter bobbins in comparison to today.

People just don’t get up for games enough or football doesn’t mean as much any more. Society is too genteel down south for us to get riled or invested in our teams as much as other regions.

The new shelf might help a bit with channelling the sound out across the ground which, in turn, may help with joining the various singing sections in the NS and increasing the volume to encourage others to join in.

Maybe...

Looks like there’s room for seats above the West Stand wings, apart from the North East corner, I can’t see where else they can put hundreds of seats in.

If the North shelf is going to be 3 blocks of 5 rows of 28 seats, then that’s 420, although maybe a bit less as they will be premium seats and given more room.

Not sure if it will help with the overall atmosphere, it could make it louder for the people underneath (Liverpool away end springs to mind) and it might direct the sound to the pitch better, but I can’t see how it will make a difference to the rest of the ground, might even have a detrimental effect.

Got bored and decided to do a mock up of what the view might be like for the North Standers at the back. I think the overhang could be similar to that of the South East Corner.

The south east corner can feel a bit oppressive, when I've been right under the concrete at the back. Though you're certainly well-protected from any weather.

This is great news, thanks for posting. If nothing else the awful gap above the North stand seats will filled with a terrace and corporate box behind. I think it will be a more relaxed corporate box which will allow replica shirts worn etc etc. The gap being filled above the North stand will make the seating area more impressive (like the South stand) as it will not be a "stand alone" terraced seating. Always though this was what the club was aiming to do, we should be proud that the club has increased the capacity from 22k to over 32k in a relatively short space of time. Exciting times.......Jack Straw wipe down your lens!

From 22k to 32k no messing about. Thanks Tony.

What about those up the road? We have all seen the pictures of there new stand but it's gone very quiet. Thought the money was ringfenced ?

Just one note of caution, do we know if this latest development to The Amex will still go ahead due to the Covid crisis?.

Well if the latest development doesn't go ahead it won't be because:-

- No money.
- Owners trying to sell.
- It'll make the ground look like a pig wearing lipstick.
- There was never any intention to build.

I doubt Covid has affected Bloom's bank balance. It's a good job it looks like we are staying up. There's no good time to be relegated but with this pandemic there will certainly be less money floating about.
