Why? Not many breweries shut down completely. Like I said - many smaller pubs stayed open selling take away beer.

I can't imagine the breweries have been able to restock even the majority of pubs. There might be some pretty rank beer being served up in the first few days, or just the fizzy/bottled stuff

There’s plenty of nice fresh stuff out there, no need for old beer.

I agree that there might be less choice, particularly cask, but a keg will be good for the best part of two months. A decent landlord will be well prepared. I've had fresh cask beer throughout from my local, the difference being going from a choice of 4 or 5 to 1.

Most kegs of lager have a 6 month shelf life from leaving the brewery (your standard ones) others 3 months, cider 12 months Strongbow 3000 years.

Are you going and if so how is your local working it ? Our's The Denford Hollybush booked a two hour slot 3-5 just to see how it goes. One way system apparently with table service.

Most pubs have weekly deliveries. Therefore it’s been a case of heavier but normal rounds. The issue has been collecting empty, opened, and full out of date stock.

For me, no. It's too early for this. Why? Because we have to get kids back to school / nursery in order for parents to go back to work.. We cannot afford to furlough people much longer, and businesses have to get back into the swing of things before the transition period ends in just under 6 months time. It's madness to do this when towns like Leicester are in complete lockdown and when track and trace isn't working.

I'll be sticking to small groups in the garden only.

Not all pubs can - only pubs that already have a license that allow for a 6am opening. What they mean is - they are removing the COVID restrictions on licensed premises at 6am tomorrow.

So the massive part of economy that is pubs, hotels, restaurants etc that employ huge numbers, all currently furloughed, are the very businesses that need to open.

Your argument contradicts itself. Unless of course you neglect this industry.
