Whatever anyone says, he WAS or COULD be good enough for us now, it’s opinion and we’ll never know. Different players in different teams and surroundings perform differently. I stand by I feel he’s a lot better than other players we have and so dangerous to have in our squad. And although he can be stroppy, all this temperament talk has escalated since he left - everyone loved him in our promotion season etc and at Chelsea this season that showed.

There were people critical of his temperament when he was here. He was rightly ripped apart for his reckless challenge against Bournemouth that saw him sent off and missing 3 crucial games in our relegation battle. He was very lucky that the ref didn't see his challenge in the opening seconds away to Palace as a red card too. He also got a very silly red card away to Everton in our first Premier League season. It was part of the player he was though, sometimes the red mist would descend, Maupay is similar however he seems to be able to keep himself just about in check at the moment. I love Knocky and that promotion season he was as good as any player I've seen in the stripes, it doesn't mean we can't acknowledge his flaws though.

The ref did see the Palace challenge.
Everton was bang in front of me, he just lost his rag, having been hit in the face by the ball (unacceptable I know), but it was right on the beak! [emoji23] and he does have a bit of a large nose.

FWIW I loved Knocky, I remain disappointed he’s left, and actually remain unsure whether we’ve improved in that position.

I know he saw it, I meant he was lucky the ref didn't see it as a red card, rather than the yellow that was given. I'm fairly certain given our luck if the ref hadn't have seen it at all then we'd have had a retrospective red coming our way.

Can’t argue any of that

Oh yeh he was a stroppy little ****er and I said that then - just seems people now saying it more and as a reason he went when CH didn’t seem to have that issue. Couple of players wives did slate him to a mate once though. I remember a league cup game when I sat down the front and he lost his shit and squared up to Lino - was a complete muppet but as you say that’s one of his endearing characteristics when he’s your player. Remember that celebration at Hildborough - loves a wind up :)

I don't know that we can take his performances for Fulham as any indication whether we were right to get rid or not. Firstly he's playing with a championship side, playing Fulham's tactics. Maybe playing with our team, in our system he would have done better. There's also the impact of being told by another premier league side 'yeah, we think you're better suited to the championship', which will knock his confidence, and that will impact on his performance.

Still can’t believe we let him go - better than a number in our squad. Also still think £10.5mil is too low - not forgotten how good he is just cos he hasn’t been here a year which is often the way on NSC. Poor from the club imo.

He's largely been a substitute for Fulham so I'd say £10m is a reasonable deal. Loved him when he was here but had reached his shelf life unfortunately.

27 starts and 9 sub appearances suggest he hasn't largely been a sub at all.

It is sad to see him go but I think this is a good deal for all concerned. I'm also encouraged by Trossard's performance last night and fancy he might come good with a run of games.

Totally agree with you on Knocky.

Yes, he didn't tear up the Premier League in the same way as the Championship, but i'm not seeing any of our other options do any better. Hopefully in time they will.

Knocky will always be a club legend to me and I don't use that term lightly

If it is the reported 10m we would be mad not to accept it

That fee was agreed about a year ago I think. It was common knowledge on here and in the Argus etc that there was a £10mil ish option to buy. He’s obviously done enough for Fulham to suggest he’s worth it, despite some on here judging purely on stats, I’d assume the Fulham board and manager etc know a tad more!

His dad passing, the actions of Sidwell and all the players at Bristol, them all going to the funeral etc. The photo celebration. The emotion he wasn’t afraid to show. And the performances and goals = definite legend. I loved that squad. Rosenior, Bruno, Stockdale etc etc all seemed so so tight.

#together not just being corporate bollocks. What a time to be an Albion fan

Ah well. Players move on, but if Knocky plays up against us and is subbed off, i'll be giving him a huge clap off the pitch .... assuming we can get in a stadium anytime soon

I agree with this. Loved Knocky but he couldn’t do it regularly in the Premier League and clearly struggled with playing Potterball (i.e pass and move) during the close season.

I’ve got a hunch that Fulham will be in the Championship next season so hopefully he’ll have a brilliant season for them.

You say that.. but did Knocky actually play under Potter? A couple of half pre season games and he was off.

It’s done now so I’ve mentally moved on, but whichever side you fall on.. he didn’t really get a chance under Potter at all.

For all is faults Hughton set a wonderful example and had a lot of really good men around him.

Loved watching him play when he was good. When he got wound up he was a liability. Still, much rather have football with people like him around - the passion, though tempered with occasional clear thought which he sometimes lacked, is one of the things that makes going to matches such fun.

I've said it on a few threads, but really? I've not forgotten how good he was, but how good he is isn't good enough anymore sadly. Not to mention his temperament was the primary driver of him leaving (like Andone and Locadia) rather than ability. It's just that his ability has starkly dwindled in the last year too.

Fulham are paying £10.5m for a player that's delivered 3 goals and 5 assists in a very decent team. For context, he scored 15 and assisted 5 for us when we were promoted (and 5 & 7 when we got to the play-offs). Trossard has contributed 3 goals and 4 assist in 16 less apps in a division higher.

Couldn't have put it better.
