[Misc] 7 Days Later: What did you Achieve During Lockdown Which You Otherwise Wouldn't Have?

Sussexscots

Fed up with trains. Sick of the rain.
Replaced an arris rail on the fence, which, given my skill set is decidedly white collar, I was quite pleased with. Pressure washed patio, dug over flower beds. Sat in garden drinking beer until it got too windy.

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
Not much. I have now realised, that the jobs I said I would get round to doing, when I had time, was just an excuse, now I have the time.

Back in Sussex
Discussed this with someone else yesterday.

Week 1: we've got lots of things we can get done, no rush though - this is going on for a while.
Week 2: as above.
Week X: as above.
Normality returns: why didn't we get anything done when we were stuck at home?

Here
I'm pacing myself for the long haul, easing myself in before commencing frenetic activity with all jobs done within a week followed by eons and eons and eons of tumbleweed inactivity i.e. nothing yet.

Same. Still working full time for the time being (from home), so little spare time in the week.

At the weekend though, because my wife couldn't insist on trips out and about, I cleared two years of accumulated CRAP out of the garage.

You seem quite a sporty chap. So far I've spotted:

Table Tennis
Football
Cycling
Badminton
Boxing (or ar least punching)
Darts
Boating
Golf
Fishing (is that a fishing net?)
Hiking
Jogging (this is an assumption based on the number of trainers which in themselves are non specific)

Have I missed anything out? I'm just trying to figure out what that red thing is in the roof's rafters in the second pic. And also the red framed item on the floor in the second pic below the punch bag. Are these items sports related? Then there is the thermal looking type mat to the left of the first pic above the red buoy.

Maybe you should leave us to guess as a game to while away our time.

What other sports apart from the above does HKFC partake in based on the evidence in his garage?

I bought one of these putting aides.....it’s about 8 ft long and is basically some green material, a raised but with a hole and a bunker and pond next to it and a rail so your balls come back to you.

Although I am a pretty decent golfer, 12 HC, putting is my weakness so I am using this time as a great practice time as all courses are closed.

I've been pretty busy with work but having lost rugby and with fewer shopping trips, I've a bit more spare time.

I'm using it to learn Portuguese from scratch and brush up my Italian and Welsh. I had a good basic knowledge of both of these but I'd got a bit rusty with them. A few months more of this and I'll be sounding like a cross between Pele, Gianfranco Zola and Huw Edwards.

In our household spring cleaning spree tidying up, reorganising furniture rooms to accommodate returning adult children.
Jet washed paved garden. Hadn’t done it for two years so took 2 days!
Wasted hours online trying to get supermarket deliveries. Wondering where to order Heinz baked beans.
Set up a WhatsApp self help group for a local community. Wondering why I did not get in more beers.

So far, little - i'm still working from home so the main battle has been working without becoming easily distracted...i work better in the office.

I did however read the entireity of a (relatively) short book on Sunday, and have considered reviving a model Railway project that has been gathering dust for some time...though the trips to Gaugemaster to obtain the required bits will have to be put on hold :(

I also have plans to get the bike out as the weather is now improving, and possibly helping a friend train for Volleyball (obv safe-distancing) just to be more active. Considering starting running again but self-confidence is currently stopping me.

Ha.

No boating. The 'red buoy' in pic 1, is the punchbag you spotted in pic 2.
The 'thermal mat' above it, is indeed sporty, too - it is an exercise mat, with exercise guides printed on it.
It is a fishing net - only used for rock-pooling, many years ago.
The red/yellow thing in the rafters is a kids' pop-out beach tent.

You've actually missed SIX further sports / games. One is visible (but maybe tricky to identify) in pic 1. Five more are visible in Pic 2, although some are very hard to spot or identify.

Painted garden fence panels and potting shed.
Now painting every surface in the garage and decluttering the garage. The trouble is what to do with the clutter.

go to idl. i've found them generally well stocked, more than the main supermarkets (though they are improving now).

I’m trying to avoid going to supermarkets if I can as I asthmatic so want to mitigate the risk. Are they getting better organised on the social distancing? Cheers.

Judging by the 'before' pics, there's probably lost tribes in there too.

I made that once, when I was off work for a bit recuperating after an operation. Nothing too clever - just bought a couple of cheap wooden railway sets (from Aldi or somewhere) stuck them on a big sheet of wood I'd shaped - painted some 'sea', and some roads, etc. My lads spent HOURS and HOURS playing with that.

They seem to have lost interest nowadays.

They are 21 and 19, to be fair.

Yes I had already spotted my error regarding the "buoy" when a closer examination revealed the boxing gloves perched atop it. I thought I had also spotted a boating hook to the left of the rear window but I realise now that that's probably a garden implement, perhaps a rake or hoe.

So I have six further sports to spot.

Would I be correct in thinking that the black, white and red ball in the back cupboard just below and to the right of the flourescent yellow ball is not spherical and is used for a sport other than football?

I think there might be evidence of cricket playing somewhere, perhaps the white trainers.

And what looks like a bag to the right of the seagulls flag looks as if it might be sport specific, perhaps bowls.

And is the other item partly obscured by the seagulls flag on its left sport related? Looks intriguing. A bit of a long shot but looks a bit like a Japanese Kendo suit.

All wrong, apart from CRICKET. The bag, on the wicker chair in Pic 1, is my cricket kit. Also the red 'frame' below the dart board, is a rebound net, for practising slip catching.

I'll give you an impossible one: BOULES - the black object hung on the wall between the ladders and the planks of wood, is a boules set!

The remaining four are all down the far end of the garage in Pic 2
