Listened to the latest episode of Reply All, The Case of the Missing Hit, off the back off the Guardian's recommendation. It's a proper spirit lifter.

I'm finding this joyful: Football Cliches

I'd jump in with the latest and work from there. The first episode is a bit of a car crash compared to how it has evolved to now, 3 journos talking about and revelling in how all parts of football are represented and described in print and in commentary. What truly is a volley? A half-volley? When does a chip become a lob and what actually qualifies as a chip or a lob? etc etc.

Really good fun. The main man, Adam Hurrey, has a superb Twitter account too.

I've heard about three podcasts in my life but listened to this yesterday:

https://gimletmedia.com/shows/reply-all/o2h8bx

Its about some dude who heard a song on the radio in the 90s and started to obsess about it because he couldnt find any information about it on the web despite remembering it in detail. Him and the podcast guy did go pretty far to solve the riddle, and I'm not going to spoil the result but it was a great listening.

Edit: And now I saw someone already had mentioned it. Nice.

What I believe to be one of the best podcasts, out there, have re-released a chunk of their back catalogue.

Enjoy.

I don't know if there's any kind of 'music scene' on NSC.
If there is they certainly keep it to themselves.

Anyhoo if any grunge-types happen to come across this post, they might be interested in:-

Eddie Vedder and Jeff Ament on Pearl Jam’s Meteoric Rise, the Future of Rock Bands, and Their New Album ‘Gigaton’

https://www.theringer.com/the-bill-...-future-of-rock-bands-their-new-album-gigaton

The Ringer’s Bill Simmons is joined by Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder and Jeff Ament to discuss a wide variety of topics, including Pearl Jam’s first concert, the Seattle SuperSonics, hanging with Dennis Rodman, the best music venues, tour stories, their new album Gigaton, and MUCH more.

I just can't help myself, I'm so sorry.

This time The Rewatchables have done Total Recall

https://www.theringer.com/2020/4/6/...ill-simmons-shea-serrano-and-jason-concepcion

(naturally the original)

It's basically:-

- 30 minutes of eye bulging chat
- 30 minutes fawning over Sharon Stone
- 30 minutes doing all the permutations of a 3 breasted hooker
- 5 minutes debating the premise of the film.

WHAT MORE DO YOU PEOPLE WANT?

Don't know if anyone has mentioned but listen to the first episode of the Dollop UK..... the true historical story of a Yorkshire witch retold by two US comedians. There are the usually cringeworthy bits when Americans talk about the UK but you just have to wait for the 14 eggs of the Apocalypse!!!

Episode 2 is about the Swansea City mascot, by the way.

My customary post, 5 minutes in:-

"Ferris Bueller is to high school kids what Indiana Jones is to archaeologists".

Come on people what more do you want?

I’m a prolific listener.

Football Daily, Football Ramble, Totally Football Show, Not The Top 20 Podcast, Stairway To Seventh, Albion Roar, Albion Unlimited, Together, Crouch, Price of Football and World Football Phone-In just about satisfies my footy hunger (though I also recommend Brighton Rock )

For film I’m a Kermode and Mayo, Film Programme and Sound of Cinema (music in film) man, but I’ll be checking out The Rewatchables based on above recommendations.

Started listening to 'You're dead to me' podcasts today. Done by one of the Horrible histories team it's a sort of history light / comedy podcast. Am a history buff so not a lot new to hear but still fun and uninteresting. Episode 1 was on 'Boudicea' and was fun. Episode 2 on Spartans next...

I'm listening to this now, I haven't laughed so much in ages.

The guys aren't anywhere near as cringeworthy as I feared, they clearly have an understanding of UK life.

Thank you so much for the tip.

Yay I can finally do a non Rewatchables podcast post.

Alan Davies has tweeted The Tuesday Club is back but on a new feed.

So you'll need to search and subscribe to that instead of the old feed.

Thanks for the Tuesday Club tip. Still my favourite football pod for reasons I can't explain - I don't especially like Arsenal!
