Gents, Ladies, I’m off to Australia for 3 weeks tomorrow, so I’ll miss the arsenal home game, but I will get to spend meaningful time with some knowledgeable and connected Albion people, to rake over the coals of our predicament.

So Public Health England stating that 17,000 is the average yearly mortality rate in England, for flu, since 2014 is nonsense, is it?
I don't think they said that, but that's not what I was calling nonsense. You said 'Statistically Coronavirus is no more deadly than flu.' That is what's nonsense. We don't yet know how deadly Coronavirus is.

"Chaos in Italy as more Serie A matches suspended over coronavirus"

Serie A in serious danger of being unable to finish, after more games get postponed through at least March 8th. Some teams already have nearly every midweek full before end of season and all euro leagues "must be completed by May 24 because of the upcoming European Championship."

Juve have already canceled all training and locked everyone down after 3 players + manager on an opposing team to their U23s last week have been diagnosed with the virus.

Arrived in Prague. Three cases connected with Italy. With the amount of Italian tourists here, was sort of expecting it.

This is a quote from the article;

Although flu might not seem like a deadly illness, on average it kills around 17,000 people in England a year.

Public Health England told ITV News: "The number of flu cases and deaths due to flu-related complications varies each flu season.

"The average number of deaths in England for the last five seasons, 2014/15 to 2018/19, was 17,000 deaths annually.

"This ranged from 1,692 deaths last season, 2018/19, to 28,330 deaths in 2014/15."

Since October, more than 4,000 people with confirmed flu have been admitted to hospitals in England with at least 70 deaths.

I guess that the true implications are still not fully understood and are subject to values used to base stats on, interpretation, and opinions. I have just read that the death rate of those contracting Coronavirus to be 2.5 to 5% against a mortality rate of 0.01% for the flu. (source WHO). I also heard it reported that this new virus is up to 4 times as contagious as the flu. I guess the fact that we have a preventative jab for the flu but not for Coronavirus at this time impacts the stats.

I think you need to wait until the end of the year for a fair comparison. Covid has barely got going yet.

You're not very good with stats are you? Are you getting this off bored housewives on Facebook?/

Also there has been a death in the US now.

I had no idea "flu" didn't actually exist until three months ago.

I'm stating the obvious, but I believe the '19' refers to the year it began (2019).

In other news, the TV programme Hawaii 5-0 is because Hawaii is the 50th State.

I think we need to end the Premier League season now. Either the present bottom three are relegated or we just start afresh next season. It's a shame but Health & Safety MUST take precedence.

I'm fully expecting the Premier League to be wiped out... for spectators.

TV companies will demand the games are played behind closed doors. They'll get a record number of viewers too, as everyone will be at home bored.

I agree. Start from scratch, so Champions Elect sadly will have to say bye-bye to their title, and we put off relegation for another season!

It will begin to get really interesting when a PL squad, or most of one, is infected meaning a club can't put a side of any merit out.
