Yes they are both nut jobs, but they have a bit of crazy, are unpredictable and on their day are a nightmare to play against.

We really haven’t replaced these guys. My one consistent problem with GPS teams are that we’re just a bit too nice and polite at times.

I completely get that managing Andone and Knockeart is likely a nightmare. But I think we need an injection of something different, and they’d give us more a threat.

As we don’t seem bothered about signing players maybe this is the best solution?

Either this, or the Glenn Murray idea l put forward on another thread.

I'm not sure Knocky is that hard to manage on the whole. I've got a feeling that his move to Fulham came about as he was told he'd be used a lot less this season, likely to be on the bench some weeks, maybe not even in the match day squad some weeks. it's possible that Knocky felt that this might impact his mental health and that moving to another club, a new challenge and a fresh start would be better for him, so the loan (with a view to buy) was the best solution for all. No big falling out etc just a move to benefit a player who needs to be playing regularly at this stage of his career/life.

Is there any basis in fact here, or are you guessing?

I've got no evidence to say this is what happened but it strikes me as a likely scenario given what has happened to him and my experiences of mental health issues friends and family have been through.

Fair enough.... I guessed it was the sulky, toys out the pram attitude if subbed or dropped?

See i think that was related to his mental health problems, we saw a lot less of these incidents once he'd admitted he needed help. Sometimes I liked to see a player angry about being subbed off, it shows they care.

Yep let’s trump a bad performance by the team with some bad attitude

I’m going to take issue with calling Knocky a ‘nut job’
2 sending offs in 327 games, and I can’t recall him ever being suspended for an accumulation of bookings , not for us anyway.
Admittedly, he should have got sent off against Palace, but, he wasn’t
He’s hardlyJoey Barton or Dale Stephens,is he?
And, the way he plays, he spent a lot of games in the Championship getting kicked from pillar to post. In some respects, his restraint was admirable.

And take into account the mental health issues, which he has been open about, plus the family circumstances he's been through.

For all Knocky has given us, we owe him more than the ill informed slurs made by people who want to sound as if they know what is going on inside the club.

Nobody is going on now about Ashley Barnes pushing over a ref and getting banned for 7 games when we had no other fit strikers. Nor should they, young men make mistakes. They can learn. I got nicked a couple of times when I was a young man, acting like a knob. It doesn't mean there's no way back.

Potter's job is to manage talented footballers. If one is harder than others he has to find a way to get the best out of him.

Good idea. It's excellent management to boot people out because of their unacceptable behaviour, then panic and invite them back again a couple of months later when you're struggling. Can't see any issues there at all.

**** me this board is full of imbeciles today.

I think the bigger question is can you achieve a successful squad with all “nice” guys?

I don’t think anyone suggested AK behaved badly just he was more self centred than the rest and too selfish for potters system. Andone sounded a bit of a knob and got himself sent off but the bloke had a bit of bite to him which we are clearly missing. It was only the post loan stuff from him on how he felt treated that really caused animosity.

I remember reading a quote from Tony Adams that when he was a player he only felt his side would be successful if he felt 8 of the 11 would stand side by side with each other to the end in a street brawl. I know that was the 90s and times moved on but I would back 4 of our entire squad to stand up if in that scenario. We’re soft as butter.

I kind of agree we that. The team which took us from the 4th division straight to the 2nd as champions both times were hard as nails. There couldn't have been a tougher team in the country. My only question though with this theory now is what teams in the Prem are full of brawlers? I can't think of one?

People who call out supposed unacceptable behaviour then proceed to swear and be offensive to a stranger.

And for merely having a different point of view regards football... the irony is hilarious.

Well said, you and Lawros LF above. You’re quite right, Knocky has had his demons for sure, but he played for our shirt and his reputation isn’t really warranted when you look at the facts.

No offence intended, love the guy and unlike sailor boy who posted earlier I think it’s important to take mental health into consideration when judging someone.

Dont think they really need to be brawlers but have the ability to scrap and die for the cause. Sheff Utd probably managing to outperform because of it and think its kept Burnley in the division for a few years too.

Indeed. Especially when (one of them is) injured.

Reading threads like this one can see not only how Brexit happend, but how it seems like the best possible solution to all things to some folk

Nah. That's caricature.

Chelsea, Citeh and Liverpool are hard as nails. But they don't behave like Bremner, Giles, Hunter et al. The days of genuine thuggery are long past, thankfully.

Give me a Time Machine, and I would have Steve Foster and Nobby Horton in the metaphorical trenches for us.........no question, we would survive.

And for the real oldies, the likes of Dave Turner and Norman Gall!

P.S. Paul Clark was no softy either!:D
