I remember going to Wrexham years ago when we were both pushing for promotion from old Div 3. Crowd of about 20,000. One of our party was so drunk he fell asleep on the loo at half time and woke up an hour after the game had ended.

Agreed

Remember the game at gillingham where they beat us 4-0 and gabbiadini scored a hat trick.....one of the real lows of our time there!

That was a Junior Seagulls day out game - I was there with half a dozen boys from the Portslade Dolphins. On the bus ride up there I was trying to convince them that we were a better team than they thought and that supporting Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool was a pointless exercise because you'd never feel as close to the team as I did to mine. Then we get stuffed by Gabbiadini. :lolol: On the subject of Darlington, I was up there recently and the stadium is mostly used as an office building now. A local rugby team plays there in front of one stand and the outside of the ground has very obviously not been cleaned in years. It's just a very sad and elaborate car park now.

I'd say that was the absolute low as an Albion supporter. We were abysmal that day - the 4-0 flattered us a bit - and this was to Darlington; Darlington, a team that went out of the league a few years later. To really rub it in, it was pissing down that day as well.

After that, the only was up

There must be something about Darlington. I’d say a really low point was after the home game in our final season at the Goldstone.

I think we lost 2-1 and were c.11 points from safety. The only bright spot being Bellotti was chased out of the West Stand.

After the game there was so much anger and the protests outside the West Stand got really nasty. I saw some very calm and reasonable people snap that night. Thankfully things turned round after this.

I only went to Gillingham a few times but that was one of them. I took a young nephew and am fairly sure that was the last game of football he has watched live or on telly...!!

I was also at that game. There should be a "Darlington Double" logo that you can have added to clothing items bought in the club shop.

I think Moshe has a point here.

This is the ultimate in Uber fan kudos. Being at both the horrendous results against Darlington, the goldstone and gillingham.

Maybe the club shop can add it to some of the tack t shirts they stock.

“ I saw both Darlington games 1-2 and 0-4 and still love the club”

That would sell like hot cakes!

Pedant alert

We lost 2-3 to Darlo at the Goldstone (and yes, I was there for both games)

We also took guests to that Darlington 4-0 defeat. A friend of my daughter and family. To make things worse, none of them had ever been to a football match before. Wouldn’t surprise me if they haven’t been since either.

Is there a point where Wrexham would be better served in the Welsh league and potential champions league football than tumbling into non-league obscurity?

I have no idea of the comparative money between NLN and the Welsh football league. I would assume similar size crowds?
