I didn't think Bong was any worse than anybody else to be honest
Balogun was certainly poorer than him but these players haven't played a competitive match in a while so they're not particularly up to speed at present

A loyal servant who has always done his best when called upon.

It looks like his best isn't now up to the level we require as a progressive-looking Premier League club, but to vilify him in the way some have and do is pretty disgusting.

Some close to us cheered when he was subbed off yesterday. They were the same ones who were on his back from his very first touch. He could have scored a hat-trick yesterday and they'd still have found fault in his performance.

Quite agree.

Shameful behaviour from some of our ‘supporters’ yesterday.

Was sat at the front right by him when he came off. He wasn’t happy. But still signed an autograph for my daughter bless him.

Sadly Bong and Balogan will not get any better but could still do a (man to man marking) job in an emergency. Bong’s wayward cross in the first half was reminiscent of his crossing over the last few years and simply isn’t good enough for the PL.

Connolly has time on his side but needs to contribute more. The next few months will determine the standard that he can play at.

Stephens has done this before in “meaningless” matches and will up his game when it matters. I hate this attitude and whilst being a Stephens fan, there is something about him that I can’t take to (probably goes back to his behaviour when we got promotion and his immediate demands for more money - probably should blame/applaud his agent.

Webster seems to have lost his edge.

Fully marks to Duffy and Button for their effort yesterday.

The jury is still out on Maupay.

For the past few matches I’ve been wishing we could bring on Knockhart for the last 20 minutes

We do have some dire fans both in the ground and on here.
Always liked Bong. His limitations are obvious ie he's not Premier League quality. But he did his bit towards our promotion and he stood up for himself when he felt he was racially abused. Will always respect him even though I wouldn't pick him now for the league or the cup.

He'll be gone in 17 games time.

It'll be nice for NSC to show some class to a decent servant of the club.

Albion’s best free transfer ever?

The World's Greatest Free Transfer Bruno might have something to say about that.

Not a penny has ever been shelled out on Bruno, or Saltor, for that matter.

Never heard of him.

Your post yesterday was excellent. Bong deserves a great reception when he moves on. He’s been a part of our transformation into an established premier league club.

Yes I think you last point was the major rerason for our poor display yesterday. When l heard the starting line up l was quite pleased. Good l thought, he has picked a team to win the match, nearly all first team squad players, and important to keep them happy, with th inclusion of a youngster on the bench in Cochane.

Until soon after we kicked off that is, it soon became more than apparent that the majority of the players out there were well off the pace and not up to speed, and others who do play more regularly, Stephens, Webster, Maupay for example, just appeared plain tired.

We have not reached established yet.

Exactly, we are only into our third season, and in the first two only just managed to survive. The likes of Bournemouth, Burnley and Southampton are, but we have a way to go yet before we consider ourselves as established. I always think it rather arrogant to look at one's self as established in the Premier League anyway, as it smacks of sefl entitlement.

He wasn't great yesterday (although neither were most of the rest of the team) and his time with the club looks to be drawing to a close but squads evolve and players age. Really didn't deserve the cheers when he was subbed off.

He’s a poor Premier League player doing his best at a club that has outgrown him due to the success that he helped create. Why the hell some people think that is worthy of abuse, I have no idea. It’s pathetic.

Well said. I really don’t understand some of our fans.

I felt really bad, almost cringed when you can hear the cheers when he got subbed off...

Thankful for his service, but fairly certain he'll be out come summertime

This, and end of thread.

It is sometimes worth commenting that not everyone who watches the Albion appears to be a supporter in the way I understand it. This notion that players are chattels to be summarily dismissed at the whim of irritable and needy so-called supporters is offensive. And what good does it do, that attitude? This is the sort of supporter who turns Skysports/BT/Amazon off when it looks like his (it's always a bloke) bet won't come in.

Bong is no Andone. I'm not even sure Andone is an Andone. Have a bit of respect for our players, I say, or **** off.

Very well summarised. However, to progress we will have to say farewell soon with a pat on the back for his efforts.

On a more negative note, Stephens tired? He didn't make the starting 11 in the last 2 league games......mentally tired maybe? Of all our players, he's the one worrying me the most at the moment, especially given the enormous contribution he is perceived by many to make to a game (when he makes an enormous contribution to a game; I confess I struggle to remember when that last was - back in November?).

Football fans being utter *****....shock horror.

It’s an unfortunate part of following the sport that you’re surrounded by such fickle twats. Humiliating a guy who helped us get to the Premier League, embarrassing.
