SO we've established the typical NSC'er will be enjoying a luxurious prawn cocktail with lashings of seafood sauce followed by roasting a moist turkey crown, but how are you intending to end the most important meal of the year? A real showstopper or something traditional?

???

West is BEST
Cheeseboard. Followed by numerous trips to the kitchen to slice off some gammon and stuff it into my face while grabbing another beer from the fridge. Ideally. Though in reality I am working a night shift on Christmas Eve and a night shift on Christmas Day. So that won’t be happening.
:-(

More likely I’ll be having egg on toast before going to work. However I have 24 days off in row in January when I’ll be in a beach bar in Gran Canaria stuffing my face and drinking myself silly. Swings and roundabouts.

Jay Rayner suggests raspberry jelly, lime jelly and pouring cream. Which sounds most tempting.

Big Christmas Pud with a single 50p coin hidden inside was always a our dessert of choice. Who would be the lucky recipient? Do not reheat your portion in microwave as my brother did in 1987.

50p, whipper snapper... We had a silver sixpence (at my nans) or a thruppeny bit (at home).

After the nibbles and delights on offer in Chez Grombleton I will probably look like a pudding, so I may abstain.

However, if forced - mince pies and brandy butter (also rum butter is available at ours. Both home made)
