When people praise 'little' Burnley for their achievements, I wonder if they regularly watch the team. They use every trick in the book, and the football is not enjoyable.

I think when Dyche eventually leaves, he's going to have the same problems finding another job as Hughton - yes he's effective, but at what cost?

Quite, I imagine he has been sounded out for quite a few jobs but none that appeal to him. Although he played for ROI I wonder if he’d consider or be be considered for NI as O’Neill looks to be on his way to Stoke.

I appreciate what he did for us.

However, I think the last 6 months for us has seen his stock fall. Parking the bus at home to Cardiff, Southampton, Newcastle and Burnley will not have impressed chairmen.

Yes, he'll get another job, in the Championship, but if you were a PL chairman, would you employ him?

Congratulations Ashley.

Was treated ridiculously harsh by sections of the Albion "faithful" and having left us, he's made himself a Premier League fixture at a club who are themselves a Premier league fixture.

Very happy for the bloke, who was a quality player for us, played out of position on a regular basis, and always put in a good shift, and never moaned. And tripping the ref was one of those moments that will stay with me forever.

Or has had enough of all the **** that comes with the job.

We all just automatically assume that everyone loves the job, and is dying to get back, but if I was 60, decent wedge in the bank, and I have had yet another successful job done turn into being chucked out, I would be ready to walk away. maybe angle for some easy TV role to stay around the game. But a day-to-day grind? Meh, I'd be in no rush.

He's almost retiring age, so why would he need to work? When you get sacked, you get your contract paid up in full.

Over rated doesn't mean worst.
I just feel that we have had better options up front since he left and don't understand the wish to have him back.
He hasn't really scored that many goals in the top two divisions.
He didn't score that many the year we walked promotion at Withdean really.
Now 7 games without a goal or assist.

Bobby Zamora 47 premier league goals in 252 games, 31 championship goals in 112 games
Ashley Barnes 36 premier league goals in 146 games, 29 championship goals in 150 games

More prolific than Bobby in the top flight, indeed a better goals per game ratio in the top two divisions combined.

99 of his championship games were for Brighton and we know what position he played here. How many would he have got if we'd started him up top more?

I would happily have him back, and I certainly wouldn't have let him go in the first place. He'd score a hatful in this Potter side

Just because we are currently going through a good spell, and sit 8th in the table, doesn't mean that people should start riticising Chris Hughton and his perceived style of football. One thing is for sure, we probably wouldn't be in the Premier League now without him.

Some people on here seem to have such very short memories. In short he is one of the very best managers this club has ever had.

I've got out of the habit of checking in on ex Brighton players to see how they're doing but with Barnes I make an exception – having watched him turn out for Eastbourne Borough and then Brighton, and work his socks off to establish himself as a Premier league goalscorer, I'm really happy for him. Strikes me as a decent guy but on the field he's got the aggression that you need in that role.

I hope he finishes his career in the Premier League and still feel slightly sad that he didn't get to that level with us.

You seem to have lost sight of the FACT that he is rubbish and that he will never amount to anything...……

A good lad, Barnes.

Total shithouse on the pitch, always seemed like an utterly nice guy off it. Has made the absolute best of his ability, and while I rarely want to see Burnley succeed, thanks to their whining manager, it's always quite pleasing to see Barnes sticking it to so-called better players by scoring.
