I love how OUTRAGED Lawrenson fawners are that other posters enjoy pointing out that Lawro has us down to lose again. As US said he predicted us for about 11 points last season :lolol:

Sorry, carry on fawning and scratching your heads on threads discussing Lawro’s predictions

As for the fact that he has done better than his guests, errr he’s a football pundit, most of the guests are Z list celebrities who probably don’t have that much interest in football anyway. Of course he’s going to do better than them most of the time

FWIW I quite enjoy listening to him talk football so I have no axe to grind with him, just makes me smile that he has us down to lose (or at best draw) virtually EVERY game

And having us not even scoring a goal yet again, in spite of us putting 3 past THFC.

Oh, how upsetting. He doesn't rate us. I'm OUTRAGED.

Mind you, pretty sure we haven't beaten Aston Villa since the year they won the league.

Eh? No one is upset that Lawro has us down to lose, more commentating at what an outrageously bad pundit he is.

He’s paid very very handsomely, it’s not much to expect him to know about clubs other then Liverpool and the top 6.

I think you'll find Strictly finished months ago.

Strictly is a live programme running currently. I voted for Mike Bushell just last Saturday.
The Sunday results show isn't live, because it is recorded late on Saturday night. You can even cheat & find out who has been eliminated after 10.30 on Saturday night.

Find out from where, TB?

Mike Bushell and all that mutual back-slapping Breakfast TV mob get right on my tits. He's not funny, he's not good at dancing, he's toss. I hope he gets voted out soon.

Being pedantic, the public votes for people, not against them.
He'd never danced a step in his life, but produced a very good quickstep. If his samba is bad tomorrow, as I suspect it will be, then he won't get my vote. That depends on the performance on the night, rather than the personality or otherwise.
As I vote online, I get 3 free votes, so my other two votes went to Anton & Emma.

Out of curiosity, how much is he paid?

The constant bitching about Lawrenson baffles me. He's from Preston, father played for them and has always supported them. He went on to win countless trophies with Liverpool and always talks with fondness about his time here at the Albion whenever asked. Yet some people get an outraged boner if he doesn't mention us all the time as if he's personally disrespecting them.

He was on the pitch a few weeks ago with some ex-players from a promotional season taking photos etc.. Can't for the life of me think who else was there.

Wouldn't have come if he didn't care about us.

But by virtue of the fact we have lost or at best drawn virtually*** EVERY game, this season, he'd be somewhat foolish to have done anything different.

What about the 0 goals VIRTUALLY every game then? Does 4 in 9 count as virtually every game in Stat Land?

Mr Liverpool (oh, no, I don't think I played at Brighton) has very kindly put us down to get beaten again. What a bonus before tomorrow's game!

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/50070427

He, in my eyes is the greatest ever player so far to don the stripes.
However he is now a pundit so his views will divide opinions.
I actually agree with him that we will lose tomorrow, however I hope we're both proved wrong.
Having said that, he once said that we would never grace the Premier league.
Great player or not, he will always divide opinions and may sometimes be wrong.

Lawrenson has predicted us to lose every week except for the two home games against West Ham and Burnley when he correctly predicted draws. He is not alone as most guests also predict us to lose every week. Its par for the course. In Premier League terms we are a small team that nobody else knows much or cares much about.

I have an inexplicable interest in watching fan predictions on Youtube and they also pretty much invariably predict that we will lose every week. This week there is an endless parade of people saying 'Brighton had a good result against Spurs, Villa had a good result against Norwich, but Brighton's win was all about how bad Tottenham were. Villa will win' They ignore that they all predicted that we would get battered by Spurs and none of them give a moment's consideration to the fact that Norwich's defending was appalling, nor that if Spurs were playing them this week, they would be predicting a Spurs win. Everybody goes with names and with received wisdom.

One of the interesting things about the analysis of Billy Beane's appproach in the book 'Moneyball' is the realisation that received wisdom is fallible and that success can be achieved by identifying the areas where it has failed and exploiting the opportunities provided. To an extent we have been playing that game. Tony Bloom's aim is obviously to keep a step ahead of group thinking, to maximise those margins that others may not be concentrating on.

Welcome Lawro's received wisdom. The longer the football establishment doesn't understand or appreciate what we are trying to do, the less competition we will have from other clubs who may wish to take the same approach.

Villa will beat us 4-0. They're the big name team, they're at home and Brighton have never won at Villa Park.

When 3 are in one game then yes it does.

We are the team that went to St James Park had 80% possession and scored a big fat zero.

In the run up to the Spurs game we are the team who's life long supporters concerns, for the rest of the season, were 'where are the goal going to come from?'

It seems, although I'm happy to be wrong as I pay very little attention to Crooks, Merson, et al, that Mr Crooks is usually very complimentary of our defensive unit, no matter who's playing.

So in his bulbous eyes as we're relegation fodder it has to be do to a lack of goals - sorry to break this news to you Icy, but he's right.

Now if the Spurs game is the start of something I expect Garth to catch on just after Norwich.
If it was just a aberration you better get used to Brighton nil as for yet another season it'll be the safest bet.

I've always regarded Mike Bushell as Breakfast TV's version of John Noakes

He predicts what he thinks the result will be, not what we want the result to be. He's been pretty good at it so far this season, never losing to his guests.

I think to an extent he goes on the law of averages as a tactic to win the game. He probably does the same for all the bottom 6 clubs. I don't see a problem with it, as you say it's been quite successful for him so far.

Wakey wakey, we have scored in 4 of the 8 League games that we have played this season and in two of those 4 we scored 3. Shake off that inferiority complex, we are a team that now pose a threat in every game, sometimes we haven’t had the quality to bulge the onion bag but we are certainly not Brighton 0 anymore. Lawro may not be ready to predict anything else from us but you as a Brighton fan? Tsk!
