And a half crown in your pocket, for fish & chips, and the bus fare home.

And a bike ride from Tyes Cross to Horsted Keynes Station, train to Haywards Heath, change to a Hove train and walk to the Goldstone Ground. Or if my Dad came to the game he would park by Hove Park and we walked across the park to the ground. Wonderful days.

Oh come on, you would have needed at least three bob to have been able to afford to do all that!

Anybody remember an Irish guy called Dessie Hutchinson - he is, at this moment, playing in the Waterford county hurling final for his club Ballygunner against De La Salle.

Great stuff - just had to check that British Railways services from Horsted Keynes station finished in 1963 - and they've probably made far more money since then on appearing in every period TV show ever filmed ! The good old days indeed.

Well the Bluebell Line wouldn't have existed if Dr. Beaching hadn't closed it!

Huge mistake. Would love it if they rebuilt the lines linking the Sussex villages. Doubt it will happen.

Dr. Beeching didn't close it. It was closed several years before he ever came on to the railway scene.

Coming from Horsted Keynes, you'd still be better travelling via Haywards Heath anyway. Bluebell line you'd have to change at Brighton - and it'd be much slower.
