Not sure most people are paying by card, still see loads paying in cash. There are multiple of issues.........

-slow/untrained staff (do they actually work for the club or Sodexo ?)
-lack of pints ready-poured
-people paying by cash and server having no clue how to deal with change
-people paying by card but using their pin instead of contactless
-people arriving at the till without knowing what they want
-people arriving at the till without the means to pay ready
etc

It'll never be any different, but the more that use contactless the better it'll be IMO

You’re right about the multiplicity of issues, but it was Barber himself who said that the “majority” of purchasers already use a card in the press release, although he was silent on whether such users use contactless or chip-and-PIN.

The trouble is, you're just never going to get experienced bar staff who are only needed for a few hours once a fortnight. Its always basically going to be kids/students earning a bit of pocket money for themselves. The nature of the work means it'll always be a high turnover, so loads of "training on the job".

Its been like it from day 1 at the Amex, can't see it ever significantly improving tbh.

I agree - but then the club should say that explicitly and not try and pretend that the move to cashless is going to solve the queues; I simply don’t believe that it will make that big a difference - especially as the “majority” are already using a cashless payment method.

Whatever happened to personal choice? The attack on cash is part of moves to control the behavior of the population. It controls personal choice on spending, it monitors behavior and movement "is that how much you spend on alcohol sir?" Your life insurance premium has just increased 50%

Thin end of the wedge, next they'll be tapping into your doorbell video to see who's called at your house....

Sodexo shows on the bill so I assume Sodexo.

My bank enforces me to use a pin every so many transactions so its not always a choice as you make out. Most people would have contactless cards by now.

I think it will make it a bit faster the cash transactions do seem to take longer. I had someone counting out the exact amount in small change last home game. I almost thought he was a plant from Barber.

If they gave the kids some training it would help a lot. They get good at the end of the season and then a new bunch is in the next year.

If your bank provides any details to your insurance company suggest you get a lawyer on to them. :D

I'm still not sure why this speeds things up. Is it really much quicker to key in a PIN than hand over some dosh? People make mistakes when they tap in a key in and that will slow things down. And what if the connection's a bit slow?

“£9.92? I’ve got the right money here . . . somewhere . . . hang on . . . here’s a fiver . . . two pound coins . . . I’m sure I had more change . . . oh well, can you change a £20 note?”

A steward actually asked me at the Southampton game why I had a bunch of keys in my pocket...I said I parked up to use p and r and he said that they had been told to ask if the bunch of keys was large!!!

Why leave it at coins? What about bunches of keys, even (horror of horrors) cigarette lighters. There could be no end to this...

The major phone networks are already selling your data to insurance companies so I'd be very surprised if the banks aren't profiling spending habits and selling them.

Not happy with this move. I don't like the insecurity of contactless so only have chip and pin. I find it far easier to budget with cash each month so tend to use that. I suppose I wouldn't be totally averse to using my card at the Amex but I certainly will now be avoiding buying things on matchdays if I can't use cash. Shame.

I like this reply. Surely the answer is along with the tried and trusted truth avoidance measures, including having a separate bank account she doesn't know about with the post going to your work, having all the birds you casually flirt with down in your phone as Bob from cricket or Dave from football, (so she doesn't read it when a text appears) and telling bet365 that they must on no account write to your home address

Not to stigmatise you specifically but is your desire to not use it at football so your other half doesn’t see your spending patterns?

I think this category is under accounted for in the club’s decision making. I know a large number of guys who will be economical with the truth at home about how many beers etc they’ve had and now it will be there to see across all the joint account statements!

Get a new card which does do contactless...?

Then again, if you rarely use the bars it's not a problem, for you or others.

You have obviously not had a bank account that does not do contactless cards then. There are plenty of folk out there that are unable to obtain a "normal" bank account and can only get a basic bank account. These accounts do not offer contactless cards, so in the real world we are not all lucky enough to be financially "normal"

Yep,soon there will be no cash and they can track everything you spend money on plus it'll stop cash in hand!

Which you can still do, just use card with C&P.

I think some people are confusing cashless with contactless only.

And if people prefer better security than card contactless then use your phone, more secure than C&P.
