And this is what i'm thinking already. How do you keep them out of the team? What options we have up front (yes, I said it).

I think one of them will come in, though i'm not sure who.

My guess is that Locadia will come out of the side, (though he has done little wrong). Murray has a terrific record at home, so will probably get another 60 mins.

Surely we'll also see Trossard soon. Gross knows he has to keep performing.

Gross was brilliant

When was the last time you saw a team performance as good as that?

Maybe the 0-3 at West Ham? Actually I think this is better. I'd have to go back to a Championship game I reckon, but which one?

Great to see such a good win at the beginning of the season, but Watford were surprisingly poor and seemed to get worse as the game wore on.

Ryan 7. A couple of decent saves, but not a lot to do.
Duffy 6. Very poor first half and surprised no one else has mentioned it. Some awful passing highlighting his weakness with the ball at his feet. At least two balls straight into touch and another two or three directly to a Watford player. And one occasion when he was attempting some clever stuff with the ball at his feet and completely screwed up. Lost the ball and regained it with a foul, giving away a dangerous free kick. I thought he was trying to hand the shirt to Webster. Better second half.
Dunk 8. Good performance.
Burn 9. Excellent. MOM
Montoya 8. Very good game. This formation suits him.
March 7. Decent except when he failed to shepherd the ball out and the resulting cross almost resulted in a goal.
Stephens 8. Best he's played for a while. Didn't see his usual array of backward passes. Much more positive display.
Propper 8. Also an improved performance compared with end of last season.
Gross 7. OK, but not at his best.
Locadia 7. Good. Looked interested.
Murray 6. Not at his best.

Subs:
Andone 7. Nicely taken goal and energetic performance.
Maupay 7. Looked good. Very nicely taken goal on his Premier League debut.
Bernardo n/a

I'm clearly wrong because I seem to be in a minority of 1, but Montoya annoyed the hell out of me today, I thought he had an awful game, had me constantly swearing at almost everything he did.

Don't jump on me, like I said, I seem to be the only person who feels that way, so I actually must be wrong, I accept that. Hoping for some extended highlights so I can correct my perception of his game today.

(I do recall it was good link up between him and Propper prior to Andone's goal though tbf)
Thought he was fabulous. Class of his own . Different player from last season. Surely you cannot fault how effective he was

Murray always scores against West Ham. I’d go with him and one of Andone or Maupay. Presence and pace - the little and large combination of old.

Little and little looked pretty decent today

I can't really explain it, I just know I was constantly shouting at him and if I had any hair would have been pulling it out.

I'd be really interested to get hold of a copy of the full match and give it another watch, would be nice anyway to rewatch a good win. If I do I will be reflecting on my assesment of Montoya, it's bizarre that I thought he was so poor and everyone else thought he was so great.

Odds are I am wrong, I accept that.

I can see where your coming from, it annoyed me that he was in lots of good positions but his final ball was missing which was getting really annoying. However his forays forward was a hell of a lot more than March who I don't think got forward at all? It appeared most of the wing play came down the right. Coincidence? Was this how Potter wanted to happen? Not sure.

March is so frustrating, including today. He can beat a man as well as anyone, but so often he gets the ball and instead of running on, stops and passes backwards. Maybe he still has a bit of Hughtonitis that needs treating with a bit of Potter magic

Someone ITK said that the last 2 years really frustrated Solly, being instructed in no uncertain terms to stay back and defend. Potter’s only had 6 weeks to coach that out of him.

Early days.

By complete contrast, Montoya ploughs forward, which was a huge liability to us in a 4 4 2 last season. But now with the insurance of a back 3, his naturally cavalier game may well thrive as it did today.

He's still lacking a footballing brain, something I've criticized him for before. The worst example of this today, of course, was his apparent unawareness of the proximity of their attackers at the byline. However he did make my jaw drop for a different reason when he managed to dispossess one of their players with atypical ease! As you say frustrating, especially for a player with so much talent.

Solly just needs to believe in himself a little more. Potter may just be the man to make that happen

Would that be the Hughtonitis when set up goals last season.....

Perhaps it just to do with the fact he’s new to the position?

Did fine yesterday, one lapse when he tried to usher the ball out. But going forward, there were a few wasteful moments from a number of players.

All you guys giving 9s and 10's, so this is the best we can hope for? No room for improvement? Don't get me wrong it was bloody wonderful to watch, for a change it was worth staying up late (I live in Aus). But hopefully there were no 9 out of ten performances. If we want to be a top ten team then we have to look at last night in terms of sixes and sevens. Have a look at Potters response to the match, happy but as he said still lots of room for improvement. However I will give 10/10 to the whole team for an obvious willingness to adapt and change. I would be worried if I was Murray, we now have some live wires up front and he may find it hard to keep his place.

Thought Dan Burn put in one of the best CB performances I’ve seen in an Albion shirt. Easily a 9 based on past ratings on here IMO.

Agree re Murray........can’t see him starting too many games.

Agreed. For me Montoya was okay defensively but looked ill at ease going forward and made a number of unforced errors. I would put him at a '6' at most.

I think March and Gross may make way next week too...... Trossard and Mooy will be likely starters..... and Locadia could be getting splinters most of the season.
