Potter not really ever had to bring in quality players like he’s going to have to with us .

Can he manage the bigger egos ?

Seems crazy to swap Hughton for this but the fact he can work on a budget does hint that we won’t be spending loads this summer .

Going to get behind him but I think we will go down .

One of Transition but with us having once again a defined footballing style hopefully interspersed by blooding some fearless youths who can show the old guard a thing or two about trying things differently.

Most importantly for me back to playing football and if we go down stick with the plan, the man and have faith it will come good.

Exciting times.

I'd say only Ryan, Dunk, Duffy, Bernardo, Propper and March deserve to be automatic starters next season. All the rest to a greater or lesser degree got Hughton fired. Let's hope they don't rack up another casualty by Christmas

Correction Knocky too

Unrealistic and, IMHO, unnecessary to expect that number of new starters... new RB to compete with MM... new ACM... new striker... maybe a winger if one of the current wingers leaves... 4 max IMHO...

We spent nothing in January.

We have just uprooted the former tactical approach and about to appoint someone at odds with that approach.

We need to spend big, and we will.

TB and co need to go out a buy a quality striker or at least bring one in on loan.. Glenn is now past it to start and the others not up to it against any sort of PL quality. Without such a striker scoring 10 or more goals we will go down and by a good margin. That would also I fear have been the case if CH had stayed on.

Irrespective of player purchases I expect us to be around the bottom for much of the season but to have the hope that Potter can turn things around in the New Year for the great escape.

It will certainly be interesting to see how things turn out and what he achieves from our poor performers.

5-6 is a bit extreme, but we certainly need 2-3 minimum of real quality who are ready to go and slot straight in.

We need 2-3 strikers alone because Locadia is not up to it (hope I am proved wrong) , Andone is still a bit of an enigma (can finish but can't lead the line , hold the ball and pass) and Glen will not make 38 games next season and he is the best of the 3.

We will need a RB and a creative midfielder player who can breakdown a team with good passing.

The number 10 role might go to Proper as might be considered too slow but if that happens he needs to radically improve on his shooting.

I think 5-6 players and we might be 'top' of the bottom group of 8 or so teams.

Yes, can't argue with any of that, but a lot of 'maybe's'..... When you asked me why, I did say as it's 'as we stand' and their is little evidence as to whether any of those 'maybe's' will actually be realised.......

I just think we have poor offensive players, seen nothing to make me think otherwise even when we did attack.

As I say, some better recruitment required.......

Thats the point of a new manager - it can only be maybe's.

I genuinely dont know how you can make an assessment on our current attacking players, when thats the one thing they didnt do.

Ill happily pile in if the fail for a new manager after a full preseason.
But its tough for me to be so dismissive after such a defensive season.

Oh fully accept it's unrealistic hence my sombre outlook. Unnecessary, well actually midfield is the most catastrophically failing part of the team and to plod into the new season with it barely rejigged will get us deserving the continuation of our past few months' performances

Only, I felt we weren’t that defensive in the first half. As you know we we were scoring more goals than the previous year. 3 vs Utd, 3 vs Palace. 2 vs Fulham, Southampton and Huddersfield. Of course there were ground out 1-0 victories as well in that time, but that is where we were as a team, and thank goodness we did get them.

We were completely hamstrung without Gross (as I recall us both discussing), which restricted us quite badly.

Bit on that basis I think it is quite easy to make an assessment. I mean we can all see Murray’s legs have gone....

One thing is for sure: Potter is not a proven Championship mastermind and, thus, won't be taking us down with him.
A better poll might therefore be: how many games will he last?

And, subsequently, how will Bloom turn to next, to get us out of the mire?

It's all down to who we sign to help the guy do his job.

It's going to be enjoyable at times, frightening at others, joyous and depressing.

I have my fingers crossed, and yet I believe we will stay up.

It's really difficult to judge a bloke on one season in English footy, let alone not in the Prem. So I will save my judgement for now. What my head and heart say, it'll be a car crash, but I hope so much I am proven wrong.

All except one!

Yes, and despite being a big Hughton fan, this was my biggest frustration. He'd had it after Christmas, still a great finisher, but given we were playing on the break we needed pace. Whilst I don't rate him surely Locadia would have been the answer at this time or Andone.....

Anyway, interesting times ahead.....

I just hope if he does become our manager, priority is given to improving the players 1st touch. This has been very poor and often put us in difficulty.

You know, I think you need to cheer up a little bit. Stevens is effective as a DCM. Propper is a class above and will come good with the shackles off. Biss is a massive find although, admittedly a bit rough and ready. Kayal has great drive, and a good backup.

I think you will find Solly is getting better and better, Knocky is a typically hit and miss winger, but can be brilliant. Izzy is aa exciting speedster who, admittedly, needs to learn to not always cut inside, and Ali J will improve with the shackles finally removed.

So, as I say, one ACM and one winger, if we lose one, is about it. The rest is down to having a manager who will allow some midfielders to create, and forwards to play as forwards, and not back-up defenders, as per Chris.

This looks so tinpot and is so disrespectful to Swansea. Can we not wait until we have confirmed whoever out next manager is before we do shit like this?

Like what?
