[Football] Liverpool fans pushing locals into a fountain

The way I see this is that Liverpool are one of those clubs with some really bad fans. Leeds, West Ham, Cardiff and Chelsea are the same. I’m not minded to say it’s scousers as I don’t remember too many problems with Everton fans.

Now clearly any club has got undesirable people who associate themselves with it. We’ve had to ban a few this season, but the difference between clubs with a good reputation for support and those with a bad reputation for support is the number of ordinary fans willing to self police and bring the drunk idiots into line.

There’s also clearly a greater problem when English fans go abroad. I can only guess this is to do with some sort of nationalist “conquering” mentality which our nation, embarrassingly seems to be prevalent. I blame the right wing press myself.

I think we’re fed this line so routinely over such a long period that we all trot this stereotypical commentary out without thinking ie we now believe it. We can’t see it for what it is: people enjoying themselves in a large group meaning statistically there’s going to be a few who go a bit far. As is the case at Xmas parties, Awards shows and if you want to go back further, Viking feasts. Was ever thus. The main difference is a today there are millions of people standing ready on social media to express constant outrage and things that would never get mentioned 20 years ago. I think there’s a name for it. Click bait?

No outrage here, just normal service resumed from Merseyside in my eyes, albeit less extreme than before. As for the Pedro comment, some will be offended I’m sure.

Sure as eggs are eggs, you’re right. Few will see what I did there, cleverly adapting a well known phrase c/o a comedic twist. So under appreciated... :(

That’s nothing, should see the mountains of rubbish foreign tourists leave in London each and every day. And places like Windsor. They have zero respect for the British public and tax payer (who in fairness have zero respect for their environments either)

The real story here is human beings are filthy. Especially in concentrations. But is this news? I think we’ve known for sometime...

Show an English fan a fountain and he'll push in one of the locals. Show a Dutch fan a fountain and he'll empty in a bottle of Fairy Liquid and give the square a Foam Party.

It's new(s) to the Barcelona politicians and journalists who are tweeting about it.

Not sure as many people would jump to the support of the other MEGA clubs, bit embarassing. It does seem as if there's a few closet second-teamers on this board. If these were Chelsea fans I'm almost certain it would be widespread condemnation.

I'm sure everyone has their own anecdotes to support their point of view, but this kind of behavior doesn't surprise me and is typical of them in my own experiences. Some of my witnessed and personal altercations with liverpool fans (including everton) have been some of the worst in my 20+ years travelling. Homophobia is rife and the disrespect/self-importance startling.

Every mug is getting super excited about this season's title race (with ridiculous points hauls which further indicate a widening of the gap), for me it's a lose-lose. Leaning towards preferring nation backed, oil funded, ffp breaking Man City at the moment.

If you think I am defending Liverpool fans you have totally missed the point.

FFS Wozza, it’s not news just because it’s being reported. And frankly that doesn’t look anywhere near approaching bad for a morning after the night before. Seen far worse outside McDonalds on S.Bank used by hundreds of Spanish tourists who equally don’t use bins we provide them with. That doesn’t get twitted because it’s not really news. Honestly, this is all ridiculous hyperbole and classic agenda driven discrimination. Is anyone circulating the mess Barca fans leave behind after EVERY game?! No. Thank god. I reckon before today’s finished we’ll have someone disguised in fake curly wig and tache wearing a carlsberg shirt drowning kittens just to create more hyperbole about Liverpool fans in Europe. It must be a shockingly slow news day out there

But that’s not what happened here! Nobody got pushed into the sea. They got wet in a fountain in a city centre amongst a bunch of high spirited fans celebrating. Get a grip for Pedro’s sake. Slightly annoying perhaps but the faux outrage is more prejudicial than anything else. And it’s certainly not newsworthy IMO. As said, hundreds of other more significant events going unreported in that city alone.

It's not a case of prioritising what's newsworthy, whether that's in your opinion or someone else's. It's about innocent people going about their business being picked on for no reason whatsoever and what will be done about it.

Really? I blame the louts who can't behave.

Yeah, you're right. But now you need to convince the other 207,999 folk who have watched that single video...

That’s how clickbait works sadly.
