Playing in a team who during 2019 have probably averaged 1 shot on target, per game.

Ali is no more responsible for our appalling form than anyone else on the pitch all of whom are answerable to Mr Hughton.

Izquierdo last season - 5 goals 3 assists in 23 games, 9 as sub
Gross last season - 7 goals and 8 assists in 35
Gross THIS season 2 goals and 2 assists in 18

All under the same manager.

The simple fact is Ali J is nowhere near as good as those two players which is why we're not seeing the attacking football and shots raining in on the goal.

We need a better CM, in an attacking sense. That’s how we’re losing games, not controlling games, not creating openings. Even Stains and Burnley, as away teams, were far better in CM.

Hopefully TB will get to grips with that this summer.

Then we’ll be able to if all our wingers, Locadia and Andone are truly PL class.

IMHO, it’s too early to call all/any of those players inadequate, or condemn CH as holding the club back as a relentless few do.

You're ALWAYS snidey. A player who is bang average and has it pointed out on here might score a goal, and up you pop with a new thread hailing him as some sort of world beater, particularly snidey at anyone who disagreed over the course of the previous X games. You do it without fail. You seem incapable of accepting that some people don't rate some of our players, however well the point is argued.
Of course I can accept players not being rated, with regards to Ali J I may well be joining them.
I certainly haven't been championing him as God's gift to football.

What I am struggling with is the length of time he's been given to 'prove himself' in some posters eyes.

Ali has hit the woodwork twice this season.
He's 10 mm away from making that point obsolete.

No, no he's not.

It really doesn't matter if you hit the post or Row Z. Unless it goes in it's useless as far as points and goal difference go. And can you tell me how many times Gross and Izqueirdo hit the woodwork in the periods I quoted because you make it sound like that's zero and I'm not sure either of us is certain of that?

But even if they HAD gone in it puts him 2 assists behind Gross having played more games and way behind Izzy from last season.

You've got Stat in your name but you don't seem to be able to understand them.

I beg to differ, there's a huge difference between hitting the woodwork and Craig Noone-ing all his shots.

I firmly believe all our wingers would benefit from a different focal point, and once again the club is paying the price of not going all in on goal scorers.

Oh and the name is ironic.

In your defence, I imagine Chelsea Forums had similar threads to this for Mo Salah and Kevin De Bruyne.

These are terrible comparisons!

KDB made just three appearances in his two years at Chelsea, and Salah, in his two years registered for Chelsea scored 20 in 50 games in Serie A.

He can come good, I can easily see it.

Problem for me is that (assuming we stay up), we cannot afford any more chancing on Belgium and Dutch league players and the absurd amount of time that it takes for them to adjust here, if they ever do.

We are crying out for someone to come in and do a job off the bat in CM and up front. That is going to mean substantial transfer fees and likely changing our wage structure.

I am fine with keeping faith in our acquisitions of last summer but our recruitment policy needs to be different this time around.

What about Lukaku then?

Perhaps a better comparison, but with him Stat's argument that it was too early to make an assessment, would have been far stronger. Lukaku joined in August 2011, didn't make his Premier League debut until May 2012, and then got sent out on loan
