For a long time, the only thing I knew about him was the bloody awful 'She'. But I've listened to a bit more of his stuff since then and he was far more interesting than that song suggested and wrote some excellent songs. Still, 94 is a pretty good innings and was still performing till the end - way to go, Charles.
Very sad news. Rest in peace you smooth b'stard.
R.I.P. Absolutely love him singing 'La Mer'. He was a truly great singer.
So sad. All four French pop stars now dead. RIP![]()
FR David is still alive if that's any consolation
Are you sure you are not thinking of Charles Trenet? It is indeed a fabulous song, but I have never heard Aznavour singing it.

You may be right. I can only find a recording from 2013 of Aznavour singing it and it's not the one I am thinking of. However I can't find the Youtube recording I was thinking of anyway, it could be Trenet or Aznavour. It's one of my favourite songs.

I take it he was 'one for the ladies' like Julio Iglesias?
