Although we need some quality I'd be very disappointed if we paid anyone 80k a week.

I'm sorry but that is just stupidity....

The average salary last year in the Premier League was supposedly (just did a quick Google) £46,000 a week. I imagine that we will have to sign some players on £50-60,000 per week in order to be competitive sadly :(

Obviously this won't happen, but the wages would indeed seem a lot more reasonable if we stay up. And the other squad members might be a lot more willing to accept one player breaking the wage structure if they thought he would help them remain Premier League players.

In your view, is it possible (and is it done by other clubs) that in order not to break a salary cap, he could be paid a 'Golden Hello'. This could be several million in the case of the striker in question and then he sits on £20k - £40k PW like the majority of the squad; then everyone is happy including me.

I don't think we will pay 80k a week but I'd not be dissapointed if we decided to pay it, if it was deemed a risk worth taking.

As an example, if we hadn't got promoted, Dale Stephens would probably have signed for Burnley for nought. 8 million quid spunked up the wall. Most chairman would have cashed in but TB didn't. We are not adverse to gambling when the situation arises and strikers are overpriced. As I posted earlier, I think this is unlikely but TB doesn't think like the rest of us. Who knows what he he is thinking?

Seems Inter want rid of him. If he wants to come here and we pay the fee they want there is some potential like in a lot of transfers they will make up the difference.

With the shrewd business that's been done so far, I'd say a player with this sort of pricetag/wage demand will almost certainly happen before the window slams shut.
If that player helps keep us up then I'm all for splashing out big bucks.

Absolutely not! Scored goals and 5 assists. No better than JIri Skalak last season and look how popular he is amongst the NSC cognoscenti.

This is a very good point, the old Golden Handshake may need to be rolled out several times next week, although perhaps it will be more of Paul Barber's Mustard Handshake ???

I think I would explode if we signed him. Helped Fiorentina destroy Liverpool in the Champions League 8 years ago, they (Pool) we totally outclassed that night.

ESPN reported that Sevilla don't want to pay his €4 million a year salary.. that's about £65k a week. Knockaert, Murray, Dunk and presumably Stephens are around the 40k mark, so maybe wouldn't be MASSIVELY out of reach? Probably would still be a tad much though... Could be persuaded with signing-on fee, relegation release clause, survival bonus, goal & appearance fees etc? Maybe I've played too much FM over the years..

Most exciting striker rumour so far regardless.

Someone suggested earlier that he could be given a £4m signing on bonus (equates to around £25,000 a week over 3 years) and then wages around £40,000 per week to keep him inline with the other players.

Seems like a great player but if we are using the club's record of shrewd business, most of us won't have heard of the new chap before we sign him. I think we'll sign someone as good as Stevan but not a well known name in the U.K.

Maybe someone like this:

Would make a lot of sense.

Surely a stronger/bigger club than us would take a punt on him though, the fee Inter are after would normally gets you a Patrick Bamford or Jordan Rhodes...

Ulloa, only a year left on his contract should be available for £2m. Can't imagine his wages are silly either.

If Hemed is valued at £4 million (plus) with a year left on his contract I would have thought Ulloa would be worth a few bob more with a similar term left on his contract.

Teodorczyk is very good, saw him play a few times when he was playing for Dynamo Kyiv. He only signed for Anderlecht permanently a few months ago but they've said they're open to offers around £10 million. Had an insane goal record during his loan spell from Kyiv but it dried up pretty quickly when he signed permanently.

I accept I will get pelters... but...
Am in the only one indifferent to Ulloa?
Slow lump who did a lot of berating the ref, falling over and shrugging his shoulders at team mates.
He was good on St. Patrick's day but...
Is he any better than Hemed?
