There was a political analyst on the news yesterday saying Corbyn's Labour were hemorrhaging white working class votes to UKIP in Oldham and the large 'Asian' (Muslim) community were the only reason Labour may scrape a win. It will be interesting to see how the numbers turn out.

Says a lot about the white working class voters in Oldham, doesn't it?
So, the Muslim community is for progressive socialism. What exactly do the rest stand for?

Do you ever think that white working class voters in a Lancashire mill town like Oldham might have different experiences from someone who lives in Hove ?

ah, ok so FGM and forced marriage are ok if its the communitys choice then ?

Don't forget Shariah Law as well!

That also shows how much Islam really works in British society!!

Funny how these people of 'Communities Choice' that embraces such double standards never fvcks off to live in a country where they can oppress women, or stone homosexuals and kill non Muslims to their hearts content but feel the need to insist on their religious rights in this country!!

Says more about the current Labour party.

Oxymoron?

I tried living in Lancashire. Wasn't for me (quite possibly because when they called me a cock it was meant as a term of endearment, rather than the usual)
I suspect the Muslim community in Oldham have rather different experiences from me, also, but we put the same tick in the box.

I suspect it was for different reasons that you decided hove was preferable and a lot easier to espouse the delights of progressive socialism.

It was more that living in Blackpool seemed to be equivalent to giving up on life.
I rarely engage in political discourse, as it goes. You're right, though: my views would likely be looked upon more favourably in the more-enlightened South.
That being said: Since I have actually lived in Lancashire and you haven't, I suspect I'm slightly better placed to enter the mind of those turning away from Labour in its traditional heartland. Y'know.

So, self segregated because these Muslim women are good enough to know their place in their society and not dare sit alongside the superior male Muslims. What a pathetic joke!
Justify it all you want mate, but clearly shows how the Muslim faith has no desire to adapt to British society and treat men and women equally!

Why would I justify it and where did I try ? Just explaining what probably happened. Doesn't mean it's something I condone - but for the press to be impliedly blame Labour is wrong (and I'm not Labour). Try going to Riyadh if you want to see proper segregation. It's quite shocking.

Youve no idea whether I've lived in Lancashire or not , but since I've lived in an area with an extremely high Muslim population (which Blackpool isn't)and you haven't , I suspect I'm slightly better placed to enter the mind of those turning away from labour in its traditional heartland. Y'know.

Nope. Neither, arguably, is my local golf club not allowing women to play before md-day on a Saturday but where is the line drawn ? As above, wasn't condoning it, just trying to explain it but don't think it's fair to label it a Labour issue....

I know that you haven't, or you'd have said so. Obvs.
How would you know whether I've lived within an extremely high Muslim population?
And repeat.
Innit.

You were trying to explain it away like it was of no importance .

Does it say a lot about them? What do you mean by that?
