I always open threads such as that in the hope that I may see them full of compassion. I'm nearly always disappointed.

Often families may visit forums such as this in the hope for some solace in other people's sympathies, but a small minority soon put paid to that.

It is easy to point out the shortcomings of those involved and be full of criticism. It seems equally easy to forget that they have been punished enough already. They lost their lives.

RIP to those who passed away. Deepest and sincerest sympathy to those who knew and loved them.

Absolutely, the world needs irkers.

It doesn't need people being unnecessarily crass and insensitive in the face of a tragedy that may well be very close to home though, simply for the sake of preserving one's carefully cultivated reputation as Mr Controversial.

It's a shame this thread started in such a negative manner as it would be nice to have a thread where people could just offer their condolences. It is such a traffic event that can so easily happen and thoughts and sympathies of with their family and friends and the two young lads who died. RIP

You could start one, and this one can be ignored.

Very good... I'm not the one who has been crass or insensitive at any stage though.

The most curious thing..
Did you think about contacting the moderation team as opposed to this pointless thread designed to stir on a very sensitive issue?
Maybe if Mods used this part of NSC a little more to explain their actions, threads like the current one wouldn't be needed.

Should you wish to discuss any particular decision further, please contact the relevant moderator by PM."

Anyone with half a brain cell can understand why it was closed.

Given some of the crass and insensitive content I am not surprised someone decided to close it.

All I am saying is that Mods should actually explain and be accountable for their actions generally - not just that particular thread, rather leaving us to infer.

From what I hear, they were just playing chicken with the waves, who hasn't done that at some point? They just picked the wrong night. RIP Lads!

Fair point. I had explained on the locked thread in question, but we decided to move it away from the sight of users and abusers, so the explanation vanished.
