Whatever they announce IS actual. It's based on cards read through gates. As far as I've seen so far. the stadium always looks like there are around 3,500 to 4,500 missing.

The process of declaring "tickets sold" has been running for about 3 seasons now. It is in line with 99% of all clubs in the top 2 divisions, it is (sadly) not unusual or different. It's going to have something to do with sponsors, the better your apparent attendance, the more money the sponsors will consider paying you I guess.

Sponsor: "Hi Paul. Here's the cheque for the sponsorship deal."
Paul Barber: "Greeeaat!" [Looks at cheque]. "Oh - why is it several thousand short of the figure you quoted?"
Sponsor: "Funnily enough that was going to be my next question..."

UH Oh.. Train disruptions!.

There's no way I'm going by bus!.. The Brighton & Hove bus company are spiraling down fast, 10 Drivers from the Lewis Road garage resigned last week, and half of those were on bendy bus rota's.

The service along lewis road will be terrible.

Train disruptions are down from London (buses from HH to Brighton/Lewes)

A poor understanding of the English language and in particular the word "attendance"

noun
1.
the act of attending.
2.
the persons or number of persons present:

Ridiculous artificially increasing the figures. Do they think the sponsors won't notice?

Do you not realise that most clubs do this?
Do you see other clubs fans moaning like the half a dozen or so on here?

Looked about right yesterday, maybe 500/1000 down although couldn't see the west stand, about 4/5k empty seats?

That deserves credit rather than the usual bashing

Thanks Greens :(
Considering the travel disruption and our poor form and league position etc., it would appear the support is holding firm, and people are still attending on a not wholly football based basis. The social aspects must be a prime consideration of the many it would seem...

I remember the days they used to under announce the attendances, probably as it was pay on the gate and saved paying the tax man quite so much!

Barnet evening game ast season at the Goldstone was the worst i remember.

Very, very good. Although the humour may sour when this actually happens one day. The club talks of the highest crowds, which is a marketing bonus, but if we did slip, and numbers fell further, I think the new diplomatic buzzword 'disingenuous' may be appropriate.

Some people really need to understand how this works.

Buying a season ticket = Intention to attend every match. This counts as attendance.

A shanked shot into row Z = Intention to score a goal. This counts as a goal.

According to my Barberometer, Albion beat Middlesbrough yesterday 16-11.

Happy days!
