Dale Stephens

Thunder Bolt

Silly old bat
Ward, because his quality was over the 90 minutes not 10 seconds.

Talk me through the first half free kick after the Blackpool fella went down for an age.

You know the one, it was the free kick that Stephens had 4 minutes to prepare for, then a further minute after the ref said ok, with the net result of kicking the ball over everybody's head, and out for a throw in.

Just because half the team were rubbish and the notable exceptions TK, Ward & Upson weren't brilliant doesn't automatically make Stephens MotM for one kick.

He earned us a point today. That's enough for MoM when every point counts. It was a good goal.

Should I give Buckley an overall score of one for not even testing the keeper in what was the best chance of the game, then?

Is Stephens the new Barnes on NSC?
Not for me, I still believe he will be quality, as proven by his performance at Leicester, plus he has just arrived with the team.

For that reason I've not rallied against the time he needs on the ball to pass, and his dead ball accuracy.

But today wasn't a MotM performance, I thought his display today epitomized a very poor lackluster team 'effort'.

I can't be the only person who thought our 'man of the match' today, was appalling.

How many passes did he make to a Blackpool player?
He only managed accurate passes after he'd thought about it for 20 secs, by which time everybody knew where the ball was going, and the tackle was made the moment the ball arrived.

Nobby Horton, behave.

This. Good goal, but other than that he was very poor.

It was a good goal.
It was a great goal.
We carved them open and it was a tremendous strike.

There must have been 2 or 3 times during the game when we put together a 'play off team' move and all but humiliated Blackpool.
Then did nothing for 20 minutes.
Stephens should have been driving through their midfield onto Leo's toes.
Instead he just casually gave the ball away, and kicked the ball into touch.

Ward, as usual.

What was the very first thing DS did?
What was the second thing DS did?
How did the corners he took today go?
How was the free kick late on in front of the NE?
How many times did he put Andrews in trouble with a delayed pass?
How many clear cut chances did he create?

Have to agree unfortunately. Not seen him have a really good game for us yet.

Today I thought he was poor but then I thought a few others were poor too. He took his goal well though.........

Think a lot of fans need to understand that were just not as good as we think we are. Defensively good, but lack the real quality needed to be up there in this division IMO.

Out of the 3 starting midfielders, Stephens was the only one of the three that offered anything.

Young Solly was nowhere and Andrews was great at 5 yard sideways passing as usual.

Who should have got MOM instead though?? The team underlreformed. Without the wonder strike, we would have lost.

You score him however you want. What has that got to do with Stephens?

ONE moment does not make a player Mom IMO anymore than one bad miss means a player has had a crap game, is that clear enough?

Damning with faint praise.

Stephens was better than Solly.
Stephen Hawkins would have been better than Solly.

Not clouded by having money on March to score today, in any way shape or form.

You seem to be ignoring some of Ward's shoddy crosses today too and his lack of confidence swinging it in with his right peg, which he could've done in the final minutes but decided to turn for the third time on to his left and get caught out in possession. I'm not saying he had a bad game, but I'm just highlighting that he also made notable errors today too. Just to note, I'm not saying DS was my MOM for the goal, he was my
MOM full stop, goal or no goal.

Ward certainly wasn't quality (by his standards) for 90 minutes. His crossing at the end was poor and near the end he tried to go round too many people gave the ball away and Blackpool broke forward. Fortunately came to nothing.

Stephens or Upson for me.

Buckley should have gone to Sunderland.
