How are we stronger than we were 5 weeks ago??? We've lost Barnes, El Abd, Conway, Bridcutt, Lita, Crofts(out for season) and we have bought in Obika(unproven), Rodney(unproven) and Stephens ( be surprised if he is better than Crofts).

Adam, Banes and Conway WOULD NOT get into our side when we have a fully fit squad. Crofts is still our player! And Liam hasn't featured much this season. I would argue that...

Ince + Andrews covers the void of Bridcutt

Obika + Spanish Rodney > Barnes

Dale Stephens covers the loss of Crofts

LuaLua and Buckley appear to be on the mend, no need for a sixth wide option (I'm counting Orlandi and Lopez, as they often play there).

Adam is the only player we haven't replaced, which means we're relying on Dunk a lot as cover. Greer and Upson ate solid though, and I think because of that, three CBs are enough. Calderon and Maski (can be recalled) can fill in for the odd when Greer AND Upson get injured (which is unlikely).

Our major need now is an adequate back up to Greer and Upson as we do not have this having lost El Abd. Other tha that we are covered

In all honesty why is this a major need? Why spend money on "what if's"? we have Dunk, who's a young talented replacement who's never let us down and if the worst comes to the worst we get an emergency loan in - not the most difficult or expensive position to fill if the need arises.
Would be nice, yes, but not a major need imo

Can't agree with all of that. Conway was on fire when he went. Obika, the jury is still out and while Rodney maybe the bees knees, he may also be a pile of shite. True he may need time to adjust, but he may adjust to late. Lualua, agreed is looking good but we all know is very frail and Buckley is out more than in and has possibly had his head turned like Bridcutt clearly had.

Just a few points, can't be arsed to go into any detail:
- No-one in their right mind would expect a team to win the league in their manager's first season.
- We've been INCREDIBLY unlucky with injuries this season.
- It'll take a long time to get over the financial constraints of playing at the Withdean (this is very much underestimated).
- I genuinely can't see how anyone can criticise the bloke who's spent £200m of his own money on the club for not spending more.
- The academy isnt even built yet, we have 3rd division training facilities and yet we're still attracting some fantastic players.
- I bloody love going to the Amex, watching entertaining football and supporting my team.

I guess what I'm trying to say is try to enjoy the ride. We don't have any real control in what's happening so we might as well enjoy it.

Well said.

We're currently not a top 6 side, I think people were rather hoping that our mini clear out and sale of Bridcutt was possibly going to lead to buying a player good enough to improve the first team.
Heading into the final stretch of the season with 3 CB's is risky, especially as Upson is nursing his knee through the finale. To have to rely on Dunk, Calde out of position or recalling Maksimenko is possibly going to bite us on the bum.

So you think Conway is better than an on form Will or Kaz?

You think having two more strikers is worse than just the one Barnes?

Care to explain ? I'm more concerned about your second point regarding our strikers. Previously we had Barnes and Ulloa, with Lita as back up. Now we have Ulloa and Rodriquez, with Obika as back up. Not to mention CMS is closer to his return. I think we're much stronger up top now!

Cms is 4-6 weeks away at best by which time if our scoring ratio does not improve we will be mid-table due to drawing more than we win.

With our injuring problems were you expecting is to be sitting in sixth? I wasn't! We're currently placed well IMO, 2 places off sixth with a game in hand is exceptional considering our injuring problems. I strongly feel the likes of Orlandi, Ulloa, LuaLua Buckley, Lopez and Bruno will improve within the next few weeks. Just like last season. And if the players currently playing well (Ince and our back 5) continue their form (hence our defensive record) I'm confident of a top six finish.

I think Conway is better than an injured player, whether it's Lualua or Buckley,

I think having one good striker is better than two average ones. ( As said, Rodney could be anything, Spanish 2nd division is no benchmark of class)

And we don't know what sort of player CMS is going to be when he gets back fit. Also have not replaced El Abd.

and Ince was originally a CB so could always fill in again in an emergency!

I reckon the boy Rodriguez is going to have the same impact as Ulloa did last year, those two are going to set this division on fire !!

This signing is exciting !!

I must disagree. This is a far stronger and deeper in ability squad. Opinions I know but I am quite convinced.

With you on this point - I think that OG's leadership style will prove to be much more productive in time. Hurricane Gus is dying down now and it's nearly fully stopped, Gus was a great marketeer (himself mainly) but he raised our profile along with his own. The brand is established now (ta Gus) we now need a smarter thinker, we have that in OG imo.
