Ulloa is superb but off form, 2 average championship strikers not yet fit and an unproven loan striker. I was hoping for a striker that is better than what we have as backup to Ulloa, that might prove to be Rodney, but the fact the club are saying he's got to prove himself to get a contract shows that even they are not sure about him. A bit disappointing and hard to see how this will inspire the other players who seem a little disillusioned at the moment. Happy with the Stephens signing though.

They are worrying about the other 20,000 - making sure there is still a sustainable club for them to support in a few years.

No. It is about balance. The club don't need to spend millions, just demonstrate that they are ambitious to reach the promised land with 1 or 2 more signings. Not generate a huge January transfer window profit.

Sorry, but I think Kaz has been superb lately. But for the woodwork and some solid goal keeping, he would have scored a couple of top quality goals in recent home games. He is contributing plenty and seems more focused.

I don't dispute that he's done well lately ...but for me he lacks the stamina/endurance to do the above for 90 mins. He can only play 60 mins (at most) which I believe is a big issues. Still not sure he has the football brain to enable him to become a top winger.

I'm still in Hope that we can sign a creative midfielder - Until then I don't see us scoring the amount of goals needed to win games. I also believe that Buckley/Lua Lua need to step up their game if were to push for play-offs. Not enough quality being shows from these two IMO

Will - yes.
Kaz - disagree. He has been in great form.

Excellent stuff mate, I was quite clearly guessing at a value for a quality League 1 CB, if you knew the price then really the need for the patronising posting is pretty pointless.

In real life, that post gets a "Actually mate, it wasn't X price, it was this, I've heard or seen from an article or someone ITK, just so you can see the picture clearer. "

On NSC on deadline day? Forget it, just pointless condescending nonsense.
I don't know the exact price.

Less than £100k though.

Ulloa is superb but off form

To give a more accurate assessment, he's an OK striker, big lad but seriously short on mobility and stamina. That's not going to change anytime soon. Turning circle of the QEII, as they say. Has been ever since the day he joined us. Needs a fellow striker up front to hold up and lay the ball off to. Ashley Barnes was that fellow striker. Oh.

I'm still worrying about last minute bids for Buckley and dare I say it….Ulloa and Kooshack.

They would have to be HUGE bids to even be considered IMHO.

I do agree - I just feel Kaz can't currently finish a 90 min game, each week to that level. We need more support.

Well, I agree with that! ;-)

:tosser: bridcutt is useless if he doesn't want to be here , as are adam and barnes........i thought you of all people would have grasped that.:tosser:

Sorry, do you know me? You seem to be posting as if you do which I find strange.

On topic, regardless of whether Barnes, AEA or Bridcutt wanted here they were all good players and could do a good job for the first team when called upon. To simply discard them without suitable replacements ,is potentially, a huge risk. My concern stems from not wanting to see the club go backwards, unfortunately if the club doesn't show any ambition on the pitch attendances will start to decrease, this could have a potentially catastrophic effect to the club in terms of the clubs finances.

I kinda agree with most of that until you mentioned Ash. Defo not for me. We need someone with more pace/trickery to play off Ulloa. One of our other 3 strikers (not the loan one) will hopefully step up.

"News for Sunderland, Crystal Palace and Hull fans here, from BBC Sport's Juliette Ferrington.
Blackpool have pulled the plug on any loan deal for Tom Ince apparently."

it is reported both Sunderland and Palace would try and sign Buckley if the Ince deal falls through.
Go home and turn off your mobile Burke.

Fair enough, but Ashley Barnes was the one striker - and the one who cost us relative peanuts - who consistently stepped up to the mark. Pound-for-Pound our most valuable recent (ex) striker by a country mile. IMHO, like.

Disagree, get on the phone, sell him, bring in Carayol and A.N.Other out wide. IMO.

I think we didn't need to replace Liam. We have Ince / Andrews, who have been doing well in Liam's absence.
Barnes was/is an av Championship striker. 6 in 24. Should be relatively easy to 'replace' (not like for like). We seem to be taking a punt on Spanish Rod and/or one of CMS/Hoskins stepping up. Risky.
AEA - to me, this is our biggest squad gap remaining.
