How do you know what Barnes was offered? I know that Barnes was asking for wages we couldn't compete with... and for a backup striker (which is what he was for us), we shouldn't cave in. That's the Pompey way

Nothing to do with Pompey way. We are talking paying him what he is worth, are you telling me Burnley pay big wages in this league?

Look at how much money not paying Murray cost us! £5m plus paying CMS a lot of money and big wages on Ulloa. Now that is mis management?

Also getting rid of two defenders who are now both playing in the championship for a team we failed to beat. We have let people go far to easily which will cost us in the long run.

We are getting pretty adept at letting our promotion rivals have strikers to help them finish above us

Can't imagine any other Championship clubs doing the same for us.

Agree sheer madness, can't believe we are letting a striker go with a 1 in 3 scoring ration and looking to replace him with one who is 1 in 6. Mason won't stand a chance with the Barnes haters with that scoring ratio

Neither Tommy nor Steve Cook would get in our squad, so what would have been the point in keeping them on?

The Barnes haters will love it when he celebrates scoring against us. He upset Plymouth fans by gesticulating at them when we bought him.

Really, bet they would have done. Certainly proving they could do a job.

Our defence is ageing rapidly and is going to need major investment, those two players could have played a part in the overhaul.

Our loss is Burnley's gain ... can only assume Barnes was insistent he was going now or in the Summer, so we got what we could

You should look in the Joe Mason thread, we have a Cardiff fan posting in it, apparently Mason is worth £6m+ and is on course for great things, despite having a pathetic scoring record and not being anywhere near their first team.

No offence. But you are utterly mental.

Karma me thinks and then they will say he never done that for us forgetting his 20 goals plus in our promotion season and being top scorer again and again and again. Its like they live in a parallel universe where Barnes actually doesn't exist

Really? When was the last time we sold a striker to a rival to help them finish above us?

El-Abd, Greer and Upson are better than Tommy Elphick. Have you seen how many goals Bournemouth have shipped this season?!
I always rated Cook and think he could have done a job, but our defence is pretty much the best in the league for the second year running.

We'll be replacing the current crop with a lot more quality than Bournemouth possess.
