I remember looking on Flight Scanner 24 a few minutes after seeing the trail and saw the route of an Easyjet flight from Belfast to Gatwick doing a loop over Mid Sussex in order to land at Gatwick, potentially that ?

WOW, just bloody WOW. That was over Burgess Hill earlier and I pointed it out to the wife, I thought it may be a hard U turn by a jet or something.

That is really weird......there was a vapour trail identical to this over Caldicot this evening, it looked like the jet had done a sharp U-turn. (Caldicot is near the Severn Bridge in South Wales).

Oh and I noticed it after picking my daughter up from gymnastics at.......8 pm tonight. It couldn't be the same one could it?

To cause a vapour trail such as that the aircraft has to be high. It would also be a jet powered aircraft!! Likely to have been put in a holding pattern ready for LGW

Most likely this. Those contrails are 25-30 miles away.

That's very bizarre. There was an almost identical pattern over Westdene/Withdean around 8pm as well.

I also saw something similar here in New Romney, Kent.

I would have been quite happy for it to have landed on my ex wife, however, the chances are slim seeing as she never maintained her landing strip.

Outside a supermarket on the edge of Horsham, I saw a long trail in western sky that headed south(ish) and back and saw the plane turn 90% and head east. When I came out 20 mins later I noticed that the trail had come back from the east and the plane was headed west again. I wondered at the time how far that plane had been, given the speed.

Maybe it was GP looking for his next managerial position...........................

Possibly.

A friend of mine posted that picture, and someone in Leicester claimed to have seen the exact same trail.

Trails like these are mostly seen at this time of year due to the heat rising from ground drawing water vapour into the air. these cool down in the air and are then super heated from the exhaust gases of jets. The upper air has to still and you then get the perfect trail.

Where I was working tonight, we were outside all shift, & a few of the people around us spotted the same loop.

Several of them told me it was evidence of chemtrails and stated that this was obvious because of the loop (as "otherwise it would have just gone in a straight line").

I pointed out that the runway state at Gatwick (by which I mean the direction in which aircraft take off & land, either east to west or west to east) changes regularly, sometimes more than once in a day, depending on wind direction, and that this particular vapour trail simply pointed to the runway being used on a 08R configuration rather than a 26L. The aircraft in question had clearly either approached or taken off from that direction and was having to turn according to instructions from ATC to make the correct bearing for its destination.

There are also issues with noise & flying over built up areas which might necessitate the particular loop seen tonight.

To my astonishment, the perpetrators of the chemtrail theory seemed to accept this, although they continued to insist the trail was all part of the Big Conspiracy to poison us all (strontium, aluminium & barium, since you asked).
