Phucking stupid amount of money. I genuinely hope he is a massive failure-nothing against Bale but everything against such crazy amounts of money like this that is ensuring only a small handful of clubs will dominate football. What is the point? Especially when Real Madrid get their debts written off every few years.

So:-

1) Zindane
2) Figo
3) Ronaldo
4) Kaka
5) Ibrah
6)
7)
8)
9)
10)
11) Torres

I'd take Crespo upfront over Ibrah, never been a huge fan of his anyway.

Always amazed me how so many clubs wanked huge money on him.

Ronaldo is the best player on that list. The stats don't lie, how many goals and assists has he got in the last couple of seasons compared to Zidane and Figo?

If Messi ever got sold he'd be top and Ronaldo a close second.

Ronaldo's a one team pony, feckin great pony granted, but nevertheless a one teamer.

Zindane won everything going for country and multiple clubs.

Samuel Eto'o was the highest paid player in the world at one stage. Chelsea are welcome to the mercenary.

Zidane has surprisingly not won that many league titles.

Someone like Xavi or Casillas will never make the list as they have stayed at their clubs, but racked up an impressive list of honours.

Xavi is possibly the most decorated of all time?

They were discussing the Bale Transfer on Sunday Night Football (BT Sport).
Joey Barton stated that is was known within football that Bale was a "Hypercondriac " and he thought he may struggle to settle.
Although Mr Barton is not universally liked he knows what the perils are of playing abroad in Marseille last year.

What ronaldo are you talking about?

Don't forget he has set scoring records in two countries (messi went and broke that...), and won everything going with United.

Yeah I did forget that his time at Utd wasn't just him 'training' for the big time.

Maybe.

Though Bale, to his credit, has always given the impression he's slightly more intelligent than your average footballer. He seems pretty quiet- you don't see him falling out of clubs at 3am or getting caught up with blonde gold-diggers looking for a story to sell.

I think he might just do better than most British players abroad- I bet he's already learning the language, which will make a huge difference. He's not going to be like Ian "It's like being in a foreign country" Rush.
