The context it was written was before you posted, nothing that was posted after can have affected your post?

Seriously - you've completely lost me. Its nothing to do with what was posted afterwards. The change of beer was mooted, and immediately the poster in question suggested a boycott, which I immediately challenged. What came later merely proved me right to have suggested that the boycott suggestion was reactionary and over the top - it didn't alter what I posted.

I qualified my post with 'if' , I just thought you'd taken a pretty argumentative and aggressive tone considering it didn't affect you in anyway unless you've a snobbery against beer drinkers

Why doesn't it affect me? I actually do drink beer sometimes, at the ground, as it goes.

I don't recall many people saying 'cider is shit'... you seem to have a chip on your shoulder about this... and I don't really understand why.

Now, if you were a lager drinker, that would be different

I don't think Bozza is saying that - he's putting forward an analogy.

I'm not saying anyone said cider was shit.

But this thread is full of superior sneers from the ale fans towards those who like other things - lager mainly, I grant you.

****'s sake. Over the last few pages this thread has descended into one of the very best (worst) examples of why people who don't post on NSC think this place is full of nerdy tossers. 'Slice Island' indeed.

I'm able to accept that different people have different tastes. Fosters might not be for me, but it is chosen by many. Why is it so few real ale fans are not able to understand the same?

Is there really any need to get all sneery and superior to those who prefer to drink something else?

Funnily the sneery and superior posts seem to have come from those who talk about beer snobs.

I am able to accept that people have different tastes, I like a quality lager (I have some Budweiser Budvars in the fridge). I am sure I would enjoy a quality cider.

But stuff like John Smiths and Fosters and stuff are mass-produced crap. I have been known to drink them - but that still makes them crap. And the people that make them know that.

Fair enough, let's forget it, I don't think i've had an argument with you before and I was probably being deliberately difficult. At least Bloom's relented on this one, it's shame the Gully Girl's fan didn't have the fight of the real ale fans

Fair enough.

Why 'Bloom's relented'? though. It was a made up rumour in the first place. It was never going to happen, and it certainly didn't get reversed in the space of 12 hours because of some opposition from half a dozen beardy keyboard warriors!

Because of using wording like you just have which, in essence, says "the stuff I like to drink is decent, the stuff you like to drink is dreadful piss water."

Many real ale fans can not seem to simply drink and let drink.

You seem to be quite vehement in your dislike of Strongbow though Bozza.
(Otherwise I agree with you on this point).

In the end, football is a game for the masses which is why 28,000 are turning up each week. Consequently, I suspect that one day we might see a mass produced beer - maybe it travels better or can be stored more easily, I don't know. What I find staggering is the number of people on here who talk about the whole Albion experienced being RUINED if their beer of choice isn't made available at the stadium.

Ultimately, if it makes commercial sense to keep Harveys, then that's what the club will do. If not, then so be it. And cider drinkers should contact the club and find out why the cider being served is gash, rather than hoping the club brings in crap beer to even things up - it's not a race to the bottom is it?

I think I'm in the majority and don't care what's sold. I certainly don't have this soul-searching about what to inflict on my palate at away games.

Fair enough - but that is your loss. It is one of the pleasures of my occasional forays away thinking about where to go and what to drink. It is good to care.

Why do I dislike beer snobs? Because they make it so easy.

Why not lager snobs ?

If people like the cider and if people like the lager then great enjoy it , it suits your taste , for me if they do away with Harvey's and unless they replace it with another decent hand pump ale , then we as a club have lost the income from 5-6 pints a game , not a lot but I am sure I will not be the only person to do it . I will stay in the Evening Star till 2.20am and then I will leave after the game to get a real ale pint in a pub. No problem really although I would rather pay a bit more and the money goes to the club.

Just my taste , and I know a lot of my mates will do the same .

I drink lager yes but only Czech lager which is brewed differently when drinking in the Czech Republic and suits my taste , but the lager in the UK is totally different . So real ale or down the pub .

My taste my opinion !

It's got nothing to do with that. It's the:

Stuff I like - decent.
Stuff you like - horrible.

Is there really any need to get all sneery and superior to those who prefer to drink something else?

Excellent...mine's a pint of Magners next time we're in the pub then. With ice

Absolutely. THis brings us to another THEORETICAL conundrum.

There are suggestions on here, from someone in the trade, that the wholesale prices of Harveys are relatively steep. Then there are suggestions from the real ale fans, that nothing else will do.

So, lets just say for arguments sake, that there is 65pmargin on a £4 pint of Brains, but only 15p margin on a pint of Harveys. Given the choice of the club replacing the beer supplier, or putting Harveys up to £4.50, what would you choose?

For me, they'd HAVE to swap it. Despite the protestations of the afficionados on here, many more people would keep their cash in their wallet if the prices went up, than would do so for a brand swap.

Largely personal taste. I do drink Blackthorn bizarrely, although not when I'm out when Stowford, Thatchers or Aspall will be first choice.

Is a complete SLICE.

(Just so you know)

We don't use the word SLICE enough any more !
