If its 1969, then its April 5th, we won 4-1.
The goalmouth looks worn so I would imagine its near the end of the season.

Anyone the exact date of this?

April 5th 1969. A 4-1 win over Barnsley in front of 11,410 supporters. Armstrong, Spearritt, Turner and Dawson scored.

From the position of the ref it looks like we had just taken a corner.

Cheers guys this is very likely the game my mum pushed me down to to meet my old man afterwards. We all went to a wedding reception or something. I was 3 months old.

My wife did exactly the same thing outside Withdean on 1st January 2008 almost 39 years later.

Happy days.

We were now pulling away from the relegation places thanks to an impressive home record since the arrival of Freedie Goodwin Esq and his wonderful signing of Alex Dawson.

Definately Alex Dawson the middle of the three - what a signing! Ex Busby Babe - we could do with one like him now! (though he wouldn't stay on the pitch more than ten minutes these days!)

There is something quite wonderful about early colour photography...

I know what you mean.

When I was doing that book, I had access to all kinds of colour photography from the 1950s and 1960s. Simple, uncluttered kits, badges like Christmas cards, centre-forwards like bulldozers. There are some great pictures of Jimmy Armfield in a Blackpool shirt, Fulham v Manchester United from 1964, Hillsborough from 1966 during the World Cup (West Germany v Uruguay I believe), and so on.

I know I showed you that picture of Steve Foster receiving treatment from 1980 (can't access it now) for an injury which ultimately meant he played the rest of his career wearing a headband.

This IS the Albions kit for me - Blue Shirts White Arms blue Trim. As this is the kit they were wearing when I first saw them at the Goldstone in the late 60's. Wonderful memories.:bhasign:

Anymore Albion pics from this era or slightly later would be gratefully received/viewed.

Thanks! Could you please remind me the title of the book? I might be interested in buying it if it's still available.

Yes, I can think of one poster from the Jimmy Hill Football Weekly that will appear on my blog at The Goldstone Wrap tomorrow morning. I would post it now, except I've already posted today's edition.... :)
